The story

1958 ASTON MARTIN DB2/4 MKIII – JUST RESTORED Complete history – Matching numbers and colors – Factory certifications TECHNICAL DATA Make: Aston Martin Model: DB2/4 MkIII Saloon Year: 1958 Chassis: AM.300.3.1720 Engine: DBA 1338 Displacement: 2922 cc – 6 inline cylinders Mileage: 420 since total restoration Interior: Connolly beige leather (code VM3099) Exterior: Pacific Blue Certifications: Aston Martin production certificate ASI Historical Relevance Certificate Connolly Leather authenticity certificate Purchase invoices and work documentation DETAILED HISTORY This extraordinary Aston Martin DB2/4 MkIII, the last development of the famous DB2 series, was shipped from the factory on December 30, 1958, to the Canadian importer DB Cars, to be delivered to its first owner, Philip Rosengarten, residing in Westmount, Canada. The car is accompanied by the original factory sheet, which lists all production details, confirming the absolute matching of the engine numbers (DBA1338) and chassis (AM.300.3.1720), as well as the original color configuration with “Pacific Blue” body and Connolly beige leather interior VM3099. Among the optional accessories noted in the factory are the power brake and chrome spoke wheels, premium elements that enhance its refinement and drivability. On November 5, 1988, the vehicle changed ownership to J. Allan Shantz, residing in Toronto (Ontario, Canada), as certified in the original sheet and confirmed by the last Canadian registration document issued in April 2011, still registered to the same owner. THE ENGLISH PERIOD On June 2, 2011, the DB2/4 MkIII was imported to England by JD Joseph Ltd, and in July 2011 entrusted to the auction house Coys for the Blenheim Palace auction, where it was sold for £85,000 to Mr. Michael Ramon Erwich, owner of the prestigious Spellbound Cars company in Great Westwood (UK), a workshop renowned internationally for the restoration of classic Aston Martins. At that time, the vehicle was in exceptional preservation condition, complete with every original detail, with a perfectly intact aluminum body. (Sources: Classic Driver – Coys Auction Blenheim Palace, July 2011) 🔗 Classic Driver Auction Sheet 2011 🔗 Classic Driver Aston Martin DB2 1958 THE COMPLETE RESTORATION Spellbound Cars began a total and documented restoration, strictly maintaining the original configuration with left-hand drive. In February 2017, during the advanced stages of work, the vehicle was sold to an Italian collector for £200,000, as per the official invoice. At the time of sale, the chassis and aluminum panels were already perfectly prepared and ready for painting in the original “Pacific Blue” color. The mechanical groups – front axle, rear axle, gearbox, electrical system, instrumentation, and chrome parts – were already professionally restored. Imported to Italy, the painting was carried out by Carrozzeria Ercolani in Faenza, using original Aston Martin Pacific Blue paint imported from the UK. The mechanical and final assembly was handled by Officina Fiani in Rome, specialized in the restoration of vintage English cars. Here the engine was completely overhauled with the replacement of cylinders and pistons, while the body and mechanics were realigned according to the original specifications. The interiors were reupholstered by hand with original Connolly leather code VM3099, as per the production sheet, purchased directly from the factory and accompanied by an authenticity certificate dated October 12, 2020. CERTIFICATIONS AND CURRENT CONDITION On November 9, 2020, the vehicle obtained the ASI Historical Relevance Certificate. On March 10, 2021, after testing, it was registered in Italy. Since then, it has only covered 420 miles of break-in.
