The MkIII represents the definitive evolution of the 3000 project and is unanimously considered the most refined, powerful, comfortable, and desirable version of the entire Austin-Healey production. Produced between 1963 and 1967 in relatively limited numbers (about 17,700 total units between Phase 1 and Phase 2), the Phase 1 – built between 1963 and 1964 – is particularly appreciated for its balance between stylistic purity and technical improvements. The chassis HBJ8L30183 identifies a specimen of the BJ8 series, the most advanced of the entire 3000 range. Condition and Use The specimen is in excellent condition, both aesthetically and mechanically, perfectly functional and extremely reliable. It is ideal for long distances and very pleasant to drive, thanks to the generous torque of the six-cylinder engine and the smooth progression. Homologated for four passengers, it features a black mohair hood that is easy and quick to close, allowing for easy access to the rear seats — a rare feature among sports cars of the era. The top speed of about 194 km/h allows for comfortable highway cruising, making it perfect for international rallies, scenic tours, and long-distance travel. These tires: Are produced according to original specifications Use modern compounds Maintain historically correct tread and profile Offer greater grip, quietness, and mileage The adoption of these tires represents an additional sign of the care and attention to detail given to the vehicle, preserving its authenticity and safety.
