The four-seater BMW 2002 Cabriolet with fully retractable soft top was manufactured in 1971 by Baur in Stuttgart on behalf of BMW and is now one of the rarest variants of the legendary 02 series. With a curb weight of around 960 kilograms, it is technically largely similar to the sedan, but combines its driving performance with the special charm of an open vehicle. The full cabriolet was offered exclusively in 1971 - optionally as a 1600-2 with a 1.6-liter engine and 85 hp or as a 2002 with a two-liter unit and 100 hp. Of a total of only 1,892 produced units, only about 200 vehicles were of the more powerful 2002 variant - a true rarity.
