The story
The only example of the ISO 100,000 series is a registered off-road vehicle created by Iso Rivolta and powered by Fiat. The project originated in 1961 at Iso Rivolta in Milan. The technical office aimed to create a lightweight vehicle for agricultural transport, to meet the market for lightweight off-road vehicles. It was therefore equipped with wheels with a clawed tread, long-travel suspension, and an innovative differential control and rear traction system. The Iso 100,000 was equipped with the two-cylinder engine derived from the Fiat 500 Giardiniera; the idea was to create a joint venture with Fiat and leverage the service and spare parts network of the Turin manufacturer. The prototype was designed by Pierluigi Raggi and assembled by Gianni Recalcati; once completed, the car was sent to the Fiat technical office for approval. The car was liked but production did not continue as Fiat aimed for a majority stake in Iso Rivolta. When Fiat requested to acquire 80% of the shares, Eng. Rivolta, president and founder of ISO, rejected the offer, and the ISO 100,000 returned to Milan. The small off-road vehicle remained registered with chassis number 100001 and was used as a service car for small transports. The car is registered with plates from the province of Milan and comes with its original registration booklet. The mechanics have been recently overhauled. The car is equipped with its original full cover to use in case of rain. In 2023, the Iso 100,000 was displayed at the National Automobile Museum in Turin during the Iso Avventura exhibition dedicated to the famous Italian brand.
