The name "Knobbly" comes from the particular irregular and muscular shape of the hand-formed aluminum body, designed to maximize lightness, rigidity, and aerodynamic penetration. The original Listers were produced in an extremely limited number – fewer than 20 units built in 1958, making them today among the rarest and most sought-after English sports racing cars. DOCUMENTED HISTORY OF THE VEHICLE The history of the vehicle's earliest years is not completely known, as is often the case with racing cars from the 1950s. Collected testimonies indicate that until 1968 the vehicle was located in the United Kingdom, in the Manchester area. 1968–1983 – Newcastle (UK) From 1968 to 1983, the car is recorded as owned by Mark Barkley of Newcastle. 1983–1985 – Dublin (Ireland) From 1983 to 1985, the vehicle is said to have been transferred to Dublin. Import to New Zealand – first verifiable data The first verifiable historical elements emerge with the importation to New Zealand, where the vehicle is registered with the plate NB 6830. The name of the owner is not known, but thanks to the stickers on the windshield, it appears that the vehicle paid the "Motor Vehicle Licence" in the years 1987, 1989, and 1990, confirming regular use. Starting in 1990, the vehicle begins a journey east that will progressively bring it back to Europe. 1990 – Import to the United States (California) In 1990, it is imported to California by Fine Car Store of San Diego. From 1996, it is actively used in historic competitions in the USA, obtaining the prestigious Technical Passport from the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association (VSCDA), in which the races held until 1998 are recorded. 1998–2000 – Santa Fe (New Mexico) Subsequently, ownership passes to Thomas W. Mittler of Santa Fe, until 2000. 2000–2005 – Mishakawa (Indiana) From 2000, the vehicle is in Mishakawa, Indiana, owned by John Norton, who sells it in 2005 to Alexander Lienau of Munich (Germany). 2005–2006 – Germany Once imported to Germany, Lienau obtains the FIA fiche (DMSB) to race in the TSRC6 category – Period E, and proceeds to a complete repaint in black with silver stripe, in line with the livery of his Chevron team and related transport vehicles. From 2006 – Italy In 2006, the vehicle is purchased by a well-known collector from Brescia, owner of a racing car team, who includes it in his private collection and requests the ACI-CSAI Technical Passport to participate in races, hill climbs, and historical reenactments. Until 2020, the car participates in numerous sporting events. In 2020, it enters the private collection of Cristiano Luzzago.
