Lotus Elite S2 from 1960 chassis EB 1415 This lotus Elite was built for the Team Elite (the lotus racing department of the time) with all the specifications for competitions and sold new on 6/10/1960 to the United Dominions Trust Commercial LTD (one of the most important English teams of the time), after several races and different owners it was completely restored in 1985 by A.N.E. Bates. It arrived in Italy thanks to Lawyer Roberto Causo (the then president of CSAI), passed to Alessandro Ripamonti, then to Maurizio Pinchetti until the purchase in 1986 by Renzo Raimondi who, after some initial small work, would be the undisputed dominator of various championships reserved for historic cars on the track, both in Italy and abroad, winning many races, 2 absolute Italian championships and a memorable Coppa Intereuropa putting behind the black beast of the Elites the Englishman Bronson. After over 35 years of racing and successes it has come into our hands in usable condition but worn out from the many competitions and repairs that have taken place over the years, it was therefore decided to intervene on the car with a complete restoration bringing the bodywork completely to resin to carry out all the repairs and improvements needed, the mechanics although in order has been all raised checked and/or revised to 0 km, the electrical system the dashboard and the instruments have been replaced with new ones, the chassis and brakes have been completely revised, all safety equipment has been replaced with new ones and all these works have been carried out with care and meticulousness trying spasmodically to save weight obtaining a - 40 Kg from the pre-restoration weight. The car has all the racing specifications of the time such as: lightened body, ZF gearbox, double 40 mm Weber carburetors, camshaft on 5 supports with the bracket machined from solid in ergal, limited-slip differential (with modification of the hubs designed by Gianni Reggiani), Borrani wheels 4.5 x15 front and 5×15 rear, forged engine with crankshaft, camshaft and connecting rods in steel, special omega pistons etc., aluminum brake calipers front and rear, plexiglass rear window and heated auto-demisting windshield, all with a total dry weight of 610 kg. The spare parts accompanying this Elite are: Second set of Borrani aluminum wheels 4.5 front and 5.00 rear, engine complete with all its full race accessories also with the same specifications as the first engine ready to mount (both made by Horst-G. Auer) n.3 complete differentials ready to mount with different gear ratios, a close-ratio gearbox with MG box, revised water radiator, set of springs and set of shock absorbers, various brake discs, front suspension arms, water pump, front steel calipers and caliper brackets, front and rear brake pads, engine gasket set, oil filters, coil, clutch discs, front and rear wheel bearings, drive shaft crosses, fuel pump, various rubber parts, front lights, complete doors, complete front and rear hoods, engine hoses and various mechanical, electrical and hydraulic small parts such as brake and clutch pumps, pipes etc. The car is complete with the newly made HTP FIA, the original English booklet, the Heritage of the original plate, the period Fiche, the sheet with all the setup and adjustment data and various historical documentation, in addition to the book of the complete restoration with photos and invoices of the work carried out, it was the protagonist of a beautiful article dedicated to it in Ruoteclassiche N. 63 June 1993 and also participated in the Le Mans Classic 2025.
