The story
PORSCHE 911 2.2 E TARGA – 1971 Example no. 312 of only 935 produced The 1971 Porsche 911 2.2 E Targa presented here is an example of exceptional historical and collectible significance, distinguished by the progressive number 312, within a limited series of just 935 units produced, making it today an extremely rare and sought-after vehicle among enthusiasts of the Stuttgart brand. Main data Brand: Porsche Model: 911 2.200 E Targa Year: 1971 Chassis: 911.210312 Engine: 911/01.6200011 Displacement: 2195 cc Indicated km: 2,200 Certifications: ASI Homologation Gold Plate Interior: Black Exterior: Metallic Silver Hood: Black History of the specimen Coming from the State of Tennessee (USA), the vehicle remained in the ownership of the same enthusiast for over thirty years, from 1984 to 2015. Imported to Italy in surprisingly original and well-preserved condition, it subsequently benefited from a complete restoration of the bodywork, accompanied by extensive photographic documentation and all invoices for the work carried out. At the end of the restoration, in 2017, the vehicle was regularly registered in Italy, becoming part of the private collection of a single owner, who has always kept it with great care. In 2019 it obtained the prestigious ASI Homologation with Gold Plate, further testimony to the high level of originality, formal correctness, and quality of the restoration. From 2019 to 2025, the Porsche has covered only 2,235 km, remaining in excellent condition. Mechanical intervention completed in 2026 Since in the first phase of restoration the engine had only been partially overhauled and, after ten years, some oil leaks had appeared, the current owner – an extremely meticulous collector – decided in November 2025 to entrust the vehicle to a renowned Porsche specialist in Brescia, recommended by our company. The professional carried out a total restoration of the engine, with complete replacement of components, invoices and complete photographic documentation are available on our website Technical characteristics of the 911 2.2 E model (1971) The 911 2.2 E represents one of the most balanced and refined versions of the early 911 range. Air-cooled 6-cylinder boxer engine of 2,195 cc. Power of about 155 HP, thanks to the Bosch MFI mechanical injection, a distinctive feature of the E (Einspritzung) versions. The Targa offers the typical brushed steel roll-bar, the removable hood made of vinyl material, and the rear window in glass, an element introduced a few years earlier. 5-speed manual transmission type 911. The setup, softer than the S version but sportier than the T, guarantees an ideal balance between comfort and performance. The combination of limited production, Targa configuration, engine with mechanical injection, and period-correct specifications makes these specimens increasingly difficult to find in original condition and with such a high level of certification.
