The story
1963 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider 1300 Series 3 – Fully Restored Brand: Alfa Romeo Model: Giulietta Spider 1300 S3 Year of manufacture: 1963 Chassis number: AR 171703 Engine number: AR00102.28659 Displacement: 1,281 cm³ – 59 kW Mileage: 800 since restoration Interior: Original black Vipla Exterior: Iseo Blue Hood: New black fabric Accessories: Original Alfa Romeo hard top Description and original condition First registered abroad on July 1, 1963, this stunning Giulietta Spider 1300 Series 3 was imported to Italy from Germany in 2018. Subsequently, the car underwent a complete restoration carried out with the utmost care and in full compliance with the original Alfa Romeo specifications. The restoration, starting from the bare shell, involved all components: Bodywork completely disassembled, sandblasted, and rebuilt according to factory standards. Mechanics overhauled and regenerated in every detail, including the original AR00102 engine, the gearbox, and the braking system. Completely redone electrical system. Interiors reupholstered with original black Vipla and period-appropriate finishes. Chrome and small parts restored or replaced with original Alfa Romeo parts. The work, which lasted several years, required a financial investment significantly higher than the market value of a standard Giulietta Spider, reflecting the owner's passion and attention to detail. Since the completion of the restoration, the vehicle has only covered 800 km of break-in, maintaining conditions like new. Aesthetic features and accessories Finished in elegant Iseo Blue, with black Vipla interiors, the vehicle expresses the timeless stylistic balance of the bodywork designed by Pininfarina, capable of combining sportiness and refinement. It is equipped with a new black fabric hood, accompanied by the rare and precious original Alfa Romeo hard top, a vintage accessory that is extremely difficult to find today. Mounted on new Vredestein Classic tires, it offers the same visual and mechanical harmony that made it famous in the 1960s. Historical notes and collectible value The Giulietta Spider 1300 Series 3, produced between 1961 and 1965, represents the last evolution of the successful series born in 1955. It featured the famous twin-cam lightweight engine of 1,290 cc, capable of over 90 hp in the Veloce version, with brilliant performance and a typically Alfa sound. The Series 3 stands out for small aesthetic and mechanical updates that make it one of the most mature and desirable versions, especially in the 1300 variant, which is now highly sought after for its balance between performance and originality. Unfortunately, after the long restoration, the owner – now elderly – could no longer use it, which is why it is now offered for sale at a fraction of the cost incurred for the restoration and purchase. This vehicle represents a unique collector's item, perfectly restored, ideal for collectors and Alfa Romeo enthusiasts.
