The story

Brand: Triumph Motor Company Model: Triumph TR2 Long Door Year: 1954 Chassis Number: TS2439L Engine Number: TS64041E Engine Capacity: 1991 cc Odometer: 7,771 miles Interior: beige vinyl Exterior: red Hood: beige Historic Certifications Automotoclub Storico Italiano – Certificate of Historical Relevance (CRS) British Motor Industry Heritage Trust – British Heritage Certificate General Description Offered in excellent condition, this rare 1954 Triumph TR2 "Long Door" represents one of the most sought-after and historically significant versions of the first generation of TR series sports cars produced by the Triumph Motor Company. The TR2 model, officially presented to the public at the 1953 Geneva Motor Show, marked the beginning of the famous family of Triumph sports roadsters. It was designed to compete with the European sports cars of the time, offering brilliant performance, robust mechanics, and a competitive price. The "Long Door" version, produced in the early examples of the TR2 series between 1953 and 1954, is now particularly sought after by collectors. The name comes from the unique configuration of the doors that drop lower along the body compared to later models, reaching down to the lower edge of the bodywork. This construction solution was abandoned after a few thousand units were produced, making the "Long Door" examples rarer and more distinctive. Overall, the total production of the TR2 was about 8,636 units, but only a relatively small part belongs to the first Long Door series, characterized by specific details of the body and construction. For this reason, these examples represent a highly coveted variant in the landscape of international automotive collecting today. Restoration and Recent History This car was fully restored in 2012 with great attention to respecting the original specifications of the model. Following the restoration, the car was presented to the technical commission for obtaining the Certificate of Historical Relevance (CRS) issued by the Automotoclub Storico Italiano, an official recognition that certifies the authenticity and historical interest of the vehicle. In 2014, the car was registered in Italy and has since been regularly subjected to mandatory periodic inspections, from which it is possible to accurately reconstruct the progression of mileage. Currently, the odometer indicates 7,771 miles traveled since the completion of the restoration. The car is also accompanied by the British Heritage Certificate issued by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, an official document that certifies the original production data of the vehicle such as chassis number, engine, configuration, and factory specifications.
