SIGHINOLFI 750 1953 for sale

The Modenese Sergio Sighinolfi, an excellent official driver for Stanguellini and later a tester for Ferrari, was also a builder of sports cars, within his workshop on Via Sabbatini in Modena. As early as 1948, he created a first sports car with a body by the Modenese Campana and driven by the Cremonese Antonio Morandini, a car on which an Ermini engine was later mounted and which finished 42nd overall at the Mille Miglia 1951. In the following years, Sighinolfi built other racing cars and in 1953, based on a tubular chassis made by the specialist Nardi, he created a 750 cc sports car equipping it with a BMW motorcycle-derived engine developed by Nardi, which debuted at the XXXVII Targa Florio driven by Sighinolfi himself. The car was then sold in Sicily and still raced in the 1954 Targa Florio with Pasquale Placido, the Catania-Etna (1953) with Giovanni Canale and with the same Sicilian driver also in the Palermo-Monte Pellegrino (1953), Il Trullo d’Oro (1953), the Giro delle Calabrie (1954) and the Coppa San Rizzo. The specimen we propose to you is precisely the one that is the subject of this story. Built in 1953 by Carrozzeria Campana on a Nardi chassis, this sports car is presented in perfect restoration condition both in bodywork and mechanics and is ready to participate in sporting events such as Targa Florio. Its BMW 40 HP 6000 rpm twin-cylinder engine prepared by Nardi, along with the lightweight aluminum bodywork by Campana, allows it to reach a speed of 150 km/h.
