The story

A LMP suitable for many events in Europe and the United States Carbon bodywork and brakes - XTRAC sequential gearbox with paddle-shifts A prototype developed for the Formula Le Mans then eligible in the Endurance Championships in Europe and the United States To help new teams integrate into the great family of endurance, and to provide a solid base to the access pyramid towards the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) had the idea to launch, in 2009, the Formula Le Mans. The project was presented in June 2008, in Le Mans. It was initially a single-make championship, with proven technology cars, and for reasonable management costs. Quickly, in a tense economic context, the Formula Le Mans would not remain in a separate championship, but would be integrated into the Le Mans Series, the European Le Mans Series and then eligible in the United States in the American Le Mans Series and the SportsCar Championship Series. The Formula Le Mans would thus be engaged from 2009 until the end of 2017 in numerous races around the world. This is the case of chassis #10 that we are happy to present for sale. It is the Oreca structure, a reference in endurance, which is responsible for developing and promoting these Formula Le Mans for the start of the 2009 season. Ben Wood and Paolo Catone are responsible for the project. All cars are strictly identical from a technical point of view: a carbon bodywork based on the Courage LC75, a weight of about 900 kilos, a 6,200 cc V8 engine based on GM for a power of 430 hp. Enough to allow young drivers to test their talent among their elders, and to provide both gentlemen and experienced drivers with a reliable and enjoyable car to drive. When the cars evolved into other Championships, the very limited power of 430 horsepower was increased thanks in particular to the increase in the diameter of the engine air intake. Thus the FLMs that were engaged in the USA became increasingly powerful with 575 horsepower thanks to a preparation carried out by the renowned American repairer Katech. Ascott Collection is pleased to present chassis FLM #10 which is one of the 42 built by Oreca that received a good upgrade in LMPC This FLM09 was engaged in Formula Le Mans in 2009 by the Belgian team Boutsen Energy Racing. In 2010, a new category was created in the Le Mans Series to allow FLM 09 owners to engage their car in a Championship. The FLM09s were launched into the great sea alongside the LMP1 and LMP2. This new category was logically named "FLM". The cars benefit from more power than the previous year, but must race on harder tires than those of the LMP2. They also adopt an "endurance kit" that allows in particular to adapt the performance, so that the FLMs are slower than the LMP2, but ahead of the GT2. Our FLMP09 is engaged by the Swiss team Hope Polevision Racing. For the occasion. The car now shows number 5 on its side pods. Steve Zacchia, Luca Moro and Wolfgang Kaufman won the victory in the category during the highly contested 1000 km of Spa. Chassis #10 was then engaged in the European Le Mans Series in 2013 by the Endurance Challenge Team in the LMPC category which would later become the LMP3 category in 2015 with a new regulation and cars significantly less performing than the LMP2. We find chassis #10 on the other side of the Atlantic in 2016. The Starworks Motorsport team engaged it at the 12 Hours of Sebring and in several rounds of the IMSA Championship and finally at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2017. This was the end of its modern career which would be followed the next year by a career in historic racing... In 2018, it was engaged by Tommy Dreelan and Aaron Scott at the Daytona Classic. Purchased by its current owner, it was imported to England and entrusted to Scott Sport. It participated in several races in the Masters Endurance Legends at the Red Bull Ring and at Zandvoort. Recently, the decision was made to completely restore it. The engine was sent to the USA by Katech. The XTRAC sequential gearbox has also been overhauled. Since then, it has not run offering its future owner many hours of driving before the next revision.
