The story
Le Mans Series and Petit Le Mans in 2010 then at the 12H of Sebring and the 24H of Le Mans in 2011 The know-how of Henri Pescarolo in LMP1: an exceptional chassis, praised by drivers Eligible for Daytona Classic, Sebring Classic, Masters Endurance Legends 1, Endurance Icons by Motor Racing Legends, Legends of Le Mans and Le Mans Classic Legend After his adventure that began in 2000 with a Courage chassis, then strong ties woven with the Sarthe manufacturer, Henri Pescarolo evolved the cars fielded by his team so much that he decided… to become a manufacturer! A fulfillment, an almost logical path in the wake of the great racing stories, like the epic of Jean Rondeau in the 70s-80s. If the Pescarolo C60 was the first LMP1 conceived by the men of the former endurance driver, it took over the whole of the Courage C60. The Pescarolo 01 was, in fact, the true first "home" creation, as its name simply indicates, 01. Ascott Collection is happy to offer you today a specimen for sale, chassis 09/2010 seen at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2011. The origins of the first LMP1 conceived 100% at Pescarolo Sport The Pescarolo 01 is a prototype that appeared in 2007 and was entirely built by Pescarolo Sport. The car was designed to meet the LMP1 and LMP2 regulations in replacement of the C60 chassis, which in turn was derived from the cars purchased from the Courage Compétition team. One can see a form of filiation with the cars previously fielded by the "Pesca" Greens, namely the Courages C52, C60, then the Pescarolo-Courage C60. The "filiation" is moreover visual, the first 01s taking over the bodywork of the C60. While the chassis of the 01s remained largely unchanged in 2008 and then in 2009, the takeover of Pescarolo Automobiles by Oak Racing saw the cars evolve rapidly, up to the last versions of 2011 of which the chassis 10 now proposed for sale is the fulfillment. OAK Racing indeed concluded an agreement with Pescarolo Sport (Sora Group) to take over the manufacturing part of its business. Consequently, the development and construction of the chassis, bodywork and spare parts of the Pescarolo LMP1 and LMP2 prototypes were the responsibility of OAK Racing starting in 2011. The same applied to all commercial activities. The technical development of the prototypes took place in collaboration with the design office of Pescarolo Sport (formerly Pescarolo Team) before it was the Oak Racing company that integrated all the skills internally. Jacques Nicolet – head of the Oak Racing team and representative of the JN Automotive structure - recovered the rights to develop and manufacture the Pescarolo LM P1 2010 but this allowed Henri Pescarolo to regain control of his team, with commitments punctuated by successes in Europe. Jacques Nicolet, who had already tasted LMP1 in 2008, relied on the 01 to return to the top. The Pescarolo 01 chassis were renowned for their reliability and agility. Alexandre Prémat in particular praised the qualities of the chassis, even stating that he found its balance more effective… than an Audi LMP1! This Pescarolo 01 OAK was engaged in the Le Mans Series during the 2010 season driven by Mathieu Lahaye and Jacques Nicolet in LMP2 version. At the end of the season, Frédéric Da Rocha completed the crew to race Petit le Mans. It was then evolved into LMP1 by its manufacturer, and was engaged at the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The crew consisted of Richard Hein, Jean-François Yvon and Jacques Nicolet. It was then preserved by Ligier Automotive. During the winter of 2018 / 2019, it was restored by Ligier and sold to a British competitor who fielded it in Masters Endurance Legends and won several victories. It was then transferred to its current owner who in turn fielded it in MEL. After a pole position at Silverstone Classic in 2023, the Pescarolo finished in second place framed by two Peugeot 90X LMP1s. It is maintained by Scott Sport near Birmingham, and is now available for sale. It is eligible for numerous major races and from 2026, at the Mans Classic Legend in the new Le Mans Legend series (plateau 10) and at Endurance Icons...
