Designed by Onroak on a Pescarolo base, it stands out in WEC 2013 with five podiums, one pole position and second place at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2014, it made history by winning at Mosport against American DPs. Finally, in 2016, it embodies the human feat of quadruple amputee driver Frédéric Sausset at Le Mans. Restored by its manufacturer and equipped with a powerful Nissan V8 O km, this revised LMP2 stands out as the ideal weapon to shine in Masters and at Peter Auto where LMP2 races are highly competitive. Before the regulations forced teams to race closed cars in LMP2, and to choose between a handful of manufacturers, the category was animated by a fabulous diversity. Lola, Norma, Oreca or Zytek marked the period 2010-2016. It is also the Pescarolo, which became Morgan, that shone and embodies this transitional period between Le Mans Series and World Endurance Championship (WEC). A car led by a solid crew, which has dominated the podiums and even shone in the United States. During the Monza round, which kicks off the 2007 Le Mans Series season, the Peugeot 908 diesel is, of course, the big novelty! The French manufacturer is back and commits to endurance for the first time since 1993. But just a few boxes away, another car debuts, and also has a powerful French DNA: the Pescarolo 01. Driver turned team boss, Henri Pescarolo created his own structure and decided to become a manufacturer. Previously engaged with Pescarolo C60s, named so because the modification work on the Courage C60 chassis had been pushed far, Henri Pescarolo launches with the 01 his very first "home-made" car. If a family resemblance is perceptible with the C60, it is because the aerodynamic revolution is not complete. Indeed, the Pescarolo 01 LMP1 largely takes the design of the Courage C60, but the chassis itself is entirely new. The aerodynamic development was carried out at the French military airbase of Brétigny-sur-Orge using straight-line tests. Mechanically, the new Pescarolo is very similar to the 2006 Courage C60, but equipped with the new Judd GV5 engine. But why did Pescarolo choose to build his own car instead of buying Courage LC70 chassis produced just a few meters from his office in the Technoparc of Le Mans? "Over the last three years, we have designed and built our own car around the C60 chassis. We were therefore ready to build our own car from A to Z, which is much more interesting as a project." Mastered from start to finish, building a new car still requires significant financial efforts. The financial difficulties of Pescarolo Sport led in 2010 to a takeover of the activity by Jacques Nicolet and his teams. Oak Racing took over the competition engagement part, and Onroak Automotive (which will become Ligier Automotive in 2019) became the manufacturing branch, continuing the work of Henri Pescarolo. Thus, starting in 2012, Onroak Automotive developed the Morgan LMP2 based on a Pescarolo 01 LMP1 chassis, which can accommodate Judd HK V8 and Nissan VK 45 V8 engines. A shark fin, openings above the wheels, and a new front end are to be noted. Development partner in LM P1 with Dunlop, the Oak Racing team carried out research and modification work on the suspensions and bodywork in its own design office. The Pescarolo 01 became Oak Pescarolo in LM P1 while the chassis complying with LM P2 rules are named Morgan. Success came right from the first season for the Morgans in WEC (which is the inaugural season of the World Championship) with four podiums, one pole position and three fastest laps in the race. The Morgan LM P2 chassis #01-18 is assembled for the 2013 season. It is entered that year exclusively in WEC, with number 24. Like the other cars of the Oak Racing team, the LMP2 is powered by the Nissan VK45 engine. It is fitted with Dunlop tires and dressed in the traditional black and purple livery of the team.
