While Oreca previously managed the engagement of third-party chassis (like Courage or Peugeot 908), the Oreca 03 marks a crucial industrial turning point: it is the very first prototype entirely designed, developed, and assembled by the Var manufacturer in its workshops in Signes, at the foot of the Paul Ricard circuit. Engineer David Floury designed a car with formidable aerodynamic efficiency. Designed around an ultra-rigid carbon monocoque inherited from the Courage LC70, the Oreca 03 stood out for its finesse, high-speed stability, and ability to generate massive downforce while limiting drag. To power this 900 kg Le Mans Prototype, Oreca partnered with the leading engine manufacturer of the time: Nissan. Positioned centrally at the rear, the atmospheric 4.5-liter Nissan V8 (code VK45DE) is powerful and reliable. Developing nearly 450 horsepower, this engine delivered a linear torque curve, perfectly suited to the demands of 6 to 24-hour races. Paired with a 6-speed sequential Xtrac gearbox with paddle shifters, the whole constituted the most powerful and sought-after technical package on the grid. The 2013 season will be remembered as the pinnacle of chassis n°15. From the opening round of the 6 Hours of Silverstone, the car showed its potential by achieving a superb 3rd place in LMP2. But it was on May 4, 2013, during the legendary 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, that chassis n°15 made history. After a memorable race held under changing weather conditions, the crew delivered a flawless performance. Thanks to a bold tire strategy and a sparkling pace from Minassian in the Raidillon, the car crossed the finish line as the grand winner of the LMP2 category. A few weeks later, chassis n°15 took on the monument of motorsport: the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Facing fierce competition, the car confirmed its legendary robustness by finishing solidly in 4th place in its category (10th overall). The rest of the global campaign (São Paulo, Fuji, Shanghai, Bahrain) will be marked by metronomic consistency. In Austin, the Oreca 03 again secured a podium with a second place in LMP2, allowing Pecom Racing to achieve 4th place overall in the FIA WEC World Championship. Eligible in HSR, Motor Racing Legends, Masters Endurance Legend, Legends of Le Mans, and Le Mans Classic Legends.
