The story
One of nine V8 Vantage GT2 produced, the only one delivered to Japan 100% compliant with its 2010 specification and therefore 100% eligible in ERL Eligible for numerous historic races including Dubai GP Revival, Daytona Classic, Sebring Classic, Masters Endurance Legends, Endurance Icons, Endurance Racing Legends and Le Mans Classic Legend Competition is in Aston Martin's DNA since its foundation with the epic DBR saga in the 50s, but also in the more modern history from the 2000s in GT and LMP1. The Vantage GT2 is part of the iconic cars of the Aston Martin Racing renaissance launched in 2005. Ten Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT2 will be produced: 9 units in addition to the development chassis VANTAGE GT2-X2. Chassis 005 is one of the examples still existing today in GT2 version. It is now offered for sale by Ascott Collection. A rare and high-performance car, eligible for the most prestigious historic races. From 2005 Aston Martin will work closely with Prodrive to create an English entity Aston Martin Racing that will commit to endurance by participating notably in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It is with the DBR9, the racing version of the DB9, that success arrives. In 2007 and 2008, the cars lined up by David Richards and his men will dominate in GT1 at Le Mans. To accompany the launch of the road V8 Vantage in 2005, Aston Martin Racing has been working since 2006 on a competition version. The model will dominate at Nürburgring in 2008 with three examples winning the top three places in the category. A V12 Vantage is also developed, as well as a more exotic V8 Vantage Rally GT. But it is mainly on the development of the Vantage GT2 that the Aston Martin Racing teams will focus to offer customers an exceptional car produced in very small numbers. Launched in 2008, the V8 Vantage GT2 is one of the most powerful racing models in the V8 Vantage family. It complies with the FIA and ACO GT2 regulations. The GT2 retains the aluminum chassis/body structure of the road Vantage with the addition of a tubular steel safety cage specified by the FIA, while the body panels are made of carbon fiber except for the roof, which remains aluminum. Great attention has been paid to improving the aerodynamics of the racing GT2, notably by equipping the car with a front splitter, a rear wing, and a rear diffuser made of carbon. The braking system consists of six-piston Brembo calipers at the front and four-piston at the rear, with two-piece discs. The power is around 475 hp, transmitted through a specific clutch and a six-speed sequential gearbox equipped with a flat-shift mechanism allowing full-throttle gear changes. The V8 Vantage GT2 is developed from the start to run on E85 ethanol or normal racing fuel (via its dry sump engine block equipped with a Pectel SQ6 engine management system). The Vantage GT2 will appear for the first time at the 2008 Long Beach Grand Prix in ALMS driven by Paul Drayson, former Minister of State of the United Kingdom, and Jonny Cocker. This will mark the brand's debut in GT2. Quickly, it is entered by customer teams in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), the Le Mans Series (LMS) as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In Europe, James Watt Automotive will run the V8 Vantage GT2 in the Le Mans Series in 2008. Aston Martin Racing will decide to officially run the Vantage with a factory commitment in 2012. It is during the winter of 2010/2011 that the adaptation work to the regulations will be carried out to result in the GTE. The car receives paddle shifters and an engine evolution and was officially named Vantage GTE. Some GT2 chassis have been converted to GTE, but this was not the case for chassis 005 which retained its GT2 specifications. The Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT2 bearing chassis number GT2 005 will be delivered to Japan to the ASpeed team which will enter it in 2010 in the Super GT Championship in the GT300 category. It is this "Japanese" V8 Vantage that Ascott Collection is proud to offer for sale. During the 2010 season in GT300, chassis 005 will participate in the Super GT open to GT2 since 2009 alongside Porsches and Ferraris. The A-Speed team of Yuichiro Seguchi will thus become the best ambassador of the English brand in the Land of the Rising Sun. In 2010, Seguchi's team was the first to line up an Aston Martin in GT300. The previous year a DBR9 had briefly appeared in GT500 to prepare for the Asian Le Mans Series. The car is entrusted to Hideshi Matsuda and Daiki Yoshimoto in 2010, then Hiroki Yoshinoto and Kazuki Hoshino in 2011 and 2012. Sporting a stunning white and orange livery, our Aston Martin was often accompanied by its famous grid girls wearing a ten.
