The story

There are Alfa Romeos, and then there are special Alfa Romeos. This one firmly belongs to the latter category. A Giulia, but a Scioneri. And it has been far too long since we last encountered one. The name may sound vaguely familiar. Scioneri was not a large-scale coachbuilder, but rather a refined outsider. In the 1960s, they produced bespoke versions of existing Alfa Romeos, often distinguished by subtle refinements and an extra touch of elegance. This Giulia 1600 S has received, among other things, a beautiful metallic finish, elegant chrome accents along the flanks, and an interior trimmed in what Alfa called "Aerpell"—a high-quality synthetic leather with a decidedly refined appearance. The color is officially called Grigio Grafite, a deep anthracite gray that comes to life when the sun is low on the horizon. The interior is black. Classic. Professional. Italian in the best possible sense. And no, this is not a restored specimen full of aftermarket additions. This Alfa remains in genuinely good and original condition. The body is straight, the panel gaps are excellent, and the paint presents very well. The interior is equally impressive, beautifully preserved and mostly original. Under the hood lies the renowned 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, known for its high performance. But that’s not why you buy this Alfa. You buy it for the feeling. This Giulia is light, lively, and eager to be driven through the curves. The five-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly, the clutch is light, and the steering? Pure Alfa Romeo: direct, precise, and wonderfully communicative. What adds further charm is the documentation. Original brochures, period registration documents, and the Alfa Romeo Certificate of Origin are present. No vague history here, just a rare and special Alfa in truly delightful condition. In its day, the Giulia was a driver’s car in every sense. A police car in Italy, a family sedan for the style-conscious gentleman of Turin, and a rally hero on the dirt roads of Tuscany. This particular version, the 1600 S Scioneri, is rare, but above all, it is subtle. No loud badges, no spoilers, no stripes. Just an elegant sedan with character. Reserved on the outside, lively on the inside. Is this the fastest Alfa Romeo ever built? Certainly not. But it could be one of the most fascinating. A Giulia you don’t see every day and perhaps exactly the right balance between usability, admiration, and driving pleasure. Contact Gallery Aaldering and discover this Alfa Romeo for yourself.
