Year 1976 Condition At the Geneva Motor Show in 1973, the Alpine A110 1600 S was replaced by the SC version (called SI for export). This model adopts several mechanical elements from the A 310, presented two years earlier. Externally, the SC is immediately distinguishable from the previous S by the beautiful alloy wheels borrowed from the A310. The 13-inch wheels were fitted with Michelin XAS radial tires, also used on Formula France single-seaters. For this new SC version, the 1.6-liter block from the Renault 16 TS was abandoned in favor of the 844-30 engine (the displayed model is 844-34 as per demonstration photo) adapted for the occasion from the Renault 12 Gordini. The block, also aluminum, retained the inline four-cylinder architecture with a side-mounted camshaft. The displacement was 1,605 cm3 and produced 140 hp at 6,250 rpm, with a maximum torque of 16.2 mkg at 5,450 rpm. The transmission, also inherited from the R12 Gordini, had five synchronized gears and one reverse. With this propulsion and thanks to the reduced weight of 710 kg, the Alpine A110 1600SC reached a top speed of 215 km/h (manufacturer's data). What we present to you is a very beautiful and well-preserved specimen. The timeless charm is etched in the faces of every motor enthusiast from its birth to today. Thanks to the pencil of an Italian, Giovanni Michelotti, this specimen possesses very light, sporty, and captivating lines, still very current. From a mechanical point of view, it shows no defects as the car has only traveled 75,000 km and had only two owners, taking great care of it, both in storing the car and in mechanical maintenance and keeping the car as original as possible over the years. The bodywork naturally shows no rust defects as it was made entirely of fiberglass and polyester with a steel supporting frame. Registered ASI and FIVA, it comes with original black plates. Curiosity In a short time, the Alpine A110 established a solid reputation competing in all national rallies, where it achieved numerous victories and brought success to several future French champions. Group 4 allowed for many modifications, such as special gearboxes Type 364 and 353 with optional conical gears, with or without a limited-slip differential, reinforced chassis with a thirteen-centimeter beam, reinforced triangles, more direct steering ratio, central tank, plexiglass rear window, and aerodynamic polyester bumpers. Among the versions derived from the A110, there was also the A210 that participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. The early versions of the Alpine also served as a "school ship" for numerous aspiring drivers, some of whom made a name for themselves internationally, such as Brazilian Emerson Fittipaldi, who later moved to Formula 1. The car reached maximum notoriety during the 1970-72 seasons competing in the newly formed International Constructors Championship, establishing itself as one of the strongest rally cars of its time.
