The story
Restored The first model of the DB road series with the typical Aston Martin radiator. This Aston Martin was delivered new in London. Equipped with overdrive and factory disc brakes. 2.9-liter inline six-cylinder engine with 162 hp. Light brown leather interior. Includes a copy of the factory production sheet. A rare and highly sought-after 1958 Aston Martin DB2/4 MK III has arrived in our showroom. Between 1957 and 1959, only 462 of these elegant 2+2 sedans were produced. These numbers make the 1958 MK III one of the rarest Aston Martin road models of the era. The MK III, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1957, represented the last and most developed version of the DB2/4 platform. With its elegant wing-shaped radiator, taken from the sporty DB3S, and a redesigned dashboard, the MK III immediately stood out from its predecessors. Although production was halted in 1959 with the introduction of the DB4, this elegant combination of design remained and eventually became a hallmark of the DB series. Even under the hood of the new MK III, there were significant changes. Thanks to Tadek Marek's modifications to W.O. Bentley's 2.9-liter inline six - which included a redesigned intake manifold, high-lift camshafts, and a revised crankshaft - the power of the MK III was increased to 162 horsepower. According to a test report from the 1959 "Road & Track" magazine, the MK III was undoubtedly "a car for connoisseurs." The vehicle with chassis number AM was delivered on July 19, 1958, through the renowned Aston Martin dealer H W Motors to The Eveton Stud in London and registered with the license plate "100 GPD." According to a copy of the factory build sheet, the vehicle was painted in Pacific Blue, fitted with Connolly Off-White leather, and had overdrive and disc brakes on the front axle. The MK III changed ownership for the first time between 1959 and mid-1966, when it was purchased by a certain C. R. Boast.
