So it was when the DB4 GT won its very first race at Silverstone in 1959 and fueled the brand's fame in subsequent races. By 1962, only 75 of the initially planned 100 units of the racing version of the road vehicle had been produced. Many decades later, Aston Martin filled the production gap by completing the remaining 25 vehicles in 2019. This was done not only in the same factory but also with the collaboration of some of the suppliers from that time. The spoke wheels come from Borrani and the leather from Connolly. The new versions were used to improve some weaknesses of the 1950s car. Among other things, this led to more precise production thanks to modern production capabilities, better thermal management of the sixth cylinder, and a left rotation in the chassis. Additionally, the displacement of the inline six-cylinder engine was increased from 3.7 liters to 4.2 liters, bringing the power to 350 HP. Furthermore, the non-road-registered Continuation, which was inspired by the Lightweight variant of the time, received a roll bar, bucket seats, and a lined fuel tank, which increases safety. For more precise handling, the rubber elements of the suspension were replaced with steel links. The entire production of a single vehicle required 4,500 hours of manual labor, which constituted a significant part of the net list price of 1,800,000 euros.
