Initially offered in a 4-cylinder version (the 100/4), the AUSTIN-HEALEY roadster quickly transitioned to a 3-liter 6-cylinder for greater torque and power, it is the famous Healey 3000. The BT7 series, later called MK I, was launched in 1959 and would be produced until 1961. The main improvements would concern the braking system with the adoption of front disc brakes replacing the old drums and also an increase in engine displacement, which now reaches 2912 cm3 hence the nickname of the 3000 series. Additionally, the body of the roadster - originally strictly 2-seater - was modified to accommodate 2 small rear seats. As for the engine, the 3-liter all-cast iron AUSTIN block is a model of elasticity, capable of picking up in 3rd gear at 1500 rpm without batting an eye. Fed by 2 SU carburetors, this large inline 6 does not shy away from revving with an absolutely fabulous sound. It is certainly one of the most beautiful sounds you will ever hear. However, the significant weight of the cast iron block must be managed in sporty driving. It is a fast, agile but masculine car: it needs to be taken care of! Body / Exterior: The model presented here is a January 1960 AUSTIN-HEALEY 3000 MKI BT7 in its "Florida Green 2997/ Ivory 2379" period color. The body was restored by a specialist a few years ago. On this occasion, this specimen received a complete new paint job in accordance with the manufacturer's color sample of the time. This is still in excellent presentation condition showing a uniform shade and excellent brightness. After a professional polishing performed with an orbital polisher by our workshop, we noticed the presence of small paint defects on the top of the front wings near the hood and also in the left corner of the grille. The edge of the passenger door has a small paint chip. The chrome bumpers and pads are in excellent condition, we found an alignment defect on the front bumper and some small traces of oxidation on the ends of the front bumper. All ornamental chrome is present and in excellent condition, except for the driver's door handle which is slightly rusted. The vinyl hood color "Ivory" is in excellent condition and fits easily. Only the alignment with the windshield remains improvable. The waterproofing remains compliant with the standards of the time. The mica rear window is in excellent condition. This specimen is equipped with PVC side-screens in good condition. The "black" tonneau cover is in good condition and fits easily. H4 (Saturnus) headlight lenses are mounted on the main optics. The 4 chrome spoke wheels 15'' are in excellent condition and show no signs of impacts or deformations. These are fitted with VREDESTEIN tires with 15% wear both front and rear. The 4 chrome Knock-offs are in near-new condition. This specimen comes with its original spoke spare wheel, its "Knock-off" hammer, and its jack Among the interesting Body / Exterior equipment and options that this specimen is equipped with, we found: the "black" tonneau cover and the vinyl hood color "Ivory". Interior: The interior was restored a few years ago.
