The story
AUSTIN HEALEY BT7 2+2 MKI 1960 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 2+2 BT7 1960 MKI 4 Places Bi-ton Ivory/Ice Blue - blue interior Navy blue hood Overdrive Complete restoration Invoice and photo file Very nice example of Austin Healey 3000 MK1 in its 2+2 version which thus offers 4 seats. A complete and meticulous restoration was carried out over 2 years between 2005 and 2007. This is a project that the owner wished to carry out with a restoration craftsman. 20 years later, one can only observe the quality of the work as nothing has changed. And the real added value of this example is its charm. It has retained its charm and authenticity, unlike some restored models that come out too flashy. On the bodywork side, the work was done in body-off. The car was sandblasted, treated, and put on a rotisserie. Some parts were replaced (floors, bumpers). The bi-tone Ice Blue/Ivory was chosen to replace the Red/Ivory. Today it is in excellent condition with no defects. The lift allowed us to observe the excellent condition of the floors, undercarriage, and sills. The chrome is shiny, not pitted. The seals are almost new. The wire wheels, period option, are of very nice presentation. On the upholstery side, all elements had been changed: seats, seat covers, door panels, carpet, armrest... only high-quality English parts. Today the interior has retained its very nice post-restoration condition with slightly patinated upholstery. The instrumentation is functional. It has its entire hood mechanism and its almost new fabric. Finally, on the mechanical side, it is equipped with the original inline 6-cylinder engine with side camshafts. The whole is fed by two SU carburetors. This has been completely removed and refurbished with, among other things: - restoration of the crankshaft - replacement of the rocker arm shaft - replacement of the intake and exhaust valves - replacement of the pistons - installation of a damper pulley - replacement of the connecting rod and bearing bushings Of course, all hoses, seals, clamps, and filters have been reviewed. The gearbox has also been refurbished. It is the original one with 4 speeds + overdrive (period option). The running gear, braking system, and suspensions have also been completely restored. To date, the car is maintained in a garage specialized in collector vehicles. The oil changes have just been done. The upholstery is regularly deep cleaned and the bodywork polished.
