Initially offered in a 4-cylinder version (100/4), the AUSTIN HEALEY roadster quickly transitioned to a 3-liter 6-cylinder for greater torque and power, it is the famous HEALEY 3000. The BJ7 MK II series was launched in 1961 and will be produced until 1963. The main improvements will concern the grille to optimize cooling and especially the side windows that can be raised instead of side-screens. The Big Healey thus becomes a convertible and no longer just a simple roadster, the fixed hood ready to unfold finally becomes effective and easy to use thanks to the abandonment of removable frames. Similarly, the body of the roadster - originally strictly 2-seater - is modified to accommodate 2 small rear seats. As for the engine, the AUSTIN 3-liter cast iron block is a model of flexibility, capable of picking up in 3rd gear at 1500 rpm without batting an eye. Powered by 2 S.U carburetors, this big inline 6 does not shy away from revving up with an absolutely fabulous sound. It is certainly one of the most beautiful sounds you will ever hear. However, the significant weight of the cast iron block must be managed in sporty driving. It is a fast, agile but masculine car: it needs to be taken care of! Bodywork / Exterior: The model presented here is a January 1963 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MKII BJ7 in its period "Old English White" color. The bodywork is in good presentation condition, showing a uniform shade and excellent shine. After a professional polishing carried out with orbitals from our workshop, we noticed the presence of some paint chips corrected in some places and a small dent on the left rear wing. The chrome bumpers are in good condition and perfectly aligned, with no signs of impacts or oxidation. We noticed a small dent on the chrome insert of the hood and slight oxidation of the headlight rims. This specimen has an internal storage cover. The black vinyl hood is in good presentation condition. Its installation is easy and its waterproofing is average. This specimen has a black vinyl hood cover in perfect condition. The 4 painted spoke wheels 15'' are in near-new condition. These are equipped with MICHELIN tires whose wear is less than 20% both front and rear. This specimen has retained its original spare wheel and hammer. Among the interesting Bodywork / Exterior equipment and options that this specimen is equipped with, we noted: chrome mirrors, painted spoke wheels, and the black vinyl hood cover and internal storage cover. Interior: The red vinyl interior with white piping was restored a few years ago and remains in excellent presentation condition. Only the outer edge of the driver's seat shows a uniform patina of use. The matching inner doors are in good condition, except for the inner driver's door trim slightly detached in some places. The dashboard and its shelf are in excellent condition and show no signs of withdrawal or stretching. The entire SMITHS onboard instrumentation with "Gold" background is fully functional. Only the ventilation/heating block is no longer operational. The original 3-spoke bakelite steering wheel and gear knob are in excellent condition. The red carpets show some stains.
