Initially offered in a 4-cylinder version (the 100/4), the AUSTIN HEALEY roadster quickly transitioned to a 3-liter 6-cylinder for greater torque and power: it is the famous big Healey 3000. In 1963, AUSTIN HEALEY introduced the final evolution of the 3000: the BJ8 MK III, which would be produced until 1968. The main improvements that the MK II benefited from were carried over, such as the new grille that optimizes cooling and especially the liftable side windows instead of the old, unsightly, and non-functional side-screens. Compared to the BJ7, the main evolutions are the standard power-assisted brakes and the increase in the size of the S.U. carburetors, which lead to a significant gain in power and torque. The Big Healey thus becomes a convertible and no longer just a simple roadster. The old removable arch hood is advantageously replaced by a more modern, faster, and easier-to-use articulated fixed system. Similarly, the body of the roadster - originally designed for 2 seats - is modified to accommodate 2 small rear seats starting from the MKII. From an engine perspective, the Austin 3-liter cast-iron block is a model of elasticity, capable of picking up in 3rd gear at 1500 rpm without batting an eye. Powered by 2 S.U. carburetors, this large inline 6 does not shy away from revving up with an absolutely fabulous sound. It is certainly one of the most beautiful sounds you will ever hear. However, the substantial weight of the cast-iron block must be managed in sporty driving. It is a fast, agile, but masculine car: it requires care.. Body / Exterior: The model presented here is a January 1967 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MK3 BJ8 in its period "Ice Metallic Blue" color. The body is in excellent presentation condition, and the paint shows a deep hue and excellent shine. After a professional polishing performed with an orbital polisher by our workshop, we noticed a small paint chip on the top of the left front wing and a slight misalignment of the hood. The chrome front and rear bumpers, as well as their pads, are in good condition despite some light signs of oxidation. The mohair hood in "Blue" color is in excellent condition. This was replaced in 2022 (invoice: 2,390€). The rear window mica has some micro-scratches. The hood installation is easy, and its fit remains compliant with the standards of the time. This specimen is equipped with a blue faux leather hood cover. The 4 chrome wire wheels of 15'' are in perfect condition. The 4 chrome knock-offs are also in good condition. The 2 front DIMAR Classic tires show 15% wear. The 2 rear HANKOOK tires show 5% wear. This specimen has retained its original spare wheel (chrome wire wheel). Among the interesting Body / Exterior equipment and options that this specimen is equipped with, we noted: The blue faux leather hood cover. Interior: The upholstery in blue faux leather and "Gold" piping was restored a few years ago and remains in excellent condition. The matching door panels and the center console in blue faux leather are in perfect condition. The acc
