In 1978, he had the car upgraded by Alpina in Buchloe into the so-called "B2". Since Alpina was not yet an independent manufacturer at that time, their archives unfortunately do not record the production numbers of the early cars. Nevertheless, only 192 "B2" engines were produced and fitted to BMWs of the E3, E9, E12 and E24 types. Alpina confirms that our car's engine is one of the original "B2" units. Of the B2 3.0 Coupé, only around 40 examples were built in total. In 1993, the Swiss doctor sold the car in Germany. In the following years it had several owners here. Most recently it was part of a high-class sports car collection in Bavaria. The car is in fantastic condition. It was extensively overhauled some time ago.
