Very innovative, it was also the first mass-produced car to have a fiberglass body. Initially equipped with a 6-cylinder inline engine and a 2-speed automatic transmission, it would quickly receive a small block V8 and a mechanical transmission with 3 then 4 speeds as an option. Little appreciated for being underperforming, the 6-cylinder would be abandoned as early as 1956. The C1 would be the first of the CORVETTES within a legendary line that has been in production for over 60 years. Body / Exterior: The model presented here is a CHEVROLET Corvette C1 from January 1960 in the period color "Coral Red". After a professional polishing carried out with an orbit from our workshop, we found a crack at the bottom of the right front panel and a stain on the top of the right front wing. The trunk panel has some small paint chips and some light scratches. The PVC hood in "White" is in excellent condition, perfectly taut and shows no discoloration despite a not perfect fit. The hood lining has a tear on the passenger side. The PVC glass of the rear window is in perfect condition. The chrome bumpers are perfectly aligned and in good condition. The chrome ornamental elements and accessories are complete and in good condition. The chrome headlight rings are in perfect condition. The 4 original 15'' steel wheels are in excellent condition, with no signs of dents, deformations, or oxidation. This specimen is equipped with 4 COKER CLASSIC tires with "White" side that show 25% wear both front and rear. The latter are equipped with their original stainless steel hubcaps also in excellent condition. This specimen has its spare wheel. Among the interesting Body / Exterior equipment and options present on this model, we found: The recent PVC hood in "White" and the 4 tires with "White" side. Interior: The interior has maintained its period configuration and appears in excellent presentation condition. The "Red" imitation leather upholstery and matching door panels are in good condition. The driver's seat cover shows no cracks or tears. The original onboard instrumentation is fully functional. In contrast, the clock is not functional. The original bakelite steering wheel and gear lever show a patina of use. The vintage CHEVROLET radio is no longer functional but has been preserved for aesthetic reasons. The stainless steel door sills are in good condition. The "Red" carpets show slight discoloration. Among the interesting interior options and equipment that this specimen is equipped with, we found: The passenger side support handle. Chassis: The lift confirms a healthy body and chassis, with no visible signs of accidents or apparent structural corrosion. The fundamentals: ladder frame, body floor, floors, lower wing parts, and wheel arches are in good condition. Reserve for use: as a principle, we cannot guarantee these elements beyond their good visual and functional state validated during the road test and the lift. During the dynamic test, we did not find any abnormal parasitic noise at the level of the body or the rolling trains (tie rods, silent blocks...). The braking is aligned, showing a bite and resistance in accordance with the standards of the time. The front and rear drums work perfectly and show no signs of leakage. The transition to the technical control carried out before delivery.
