Very innovative, it was also the first production car to have a fiberglass body. Initially equipped with a 6-cylinder inline engine and a 2-speed automatic transmission, it would quickly receive a small block V8 and a mechanical transmission with 3 then 4 speeds as an option. Little appreciated for being underperforming, the 6-cylinder would be abandoned as early as 1956. The C1 would be the first of the CORVETTES within a legendary line in production for over 60 years. Body / Exterior: The model presented here is a CHEVROLET Corvette C1 from January 1961 in "Coral Red" color. The body received a complete repaint a few years ago and the overall condition is excellent. After a professional polishing performed with orbitals from our workshop, we found some dust under the paint. The mohair hood "Tan" color has been recently replaced. This is in excellent condition, perfectly taut and shows no discoloration although its waterproofing remains improvable. The PVC mica of the rear window is also in excellent condition. The chrome bumpers are perfectly aligned. The chrome ornamental elements and accessories are complete and also in excellent condition. Only the grille trim shows slight oxidation. The colored windshield "Green" is in excellent condition. The lower trim of the windshield frame has a small dent on the passenger side and the outline of the windshield and rear lights shows slight traces of oxidation. The 4 original 15'' steel wheels are in excellent condition, with no signs of impacts, deformations or oxidation. These are equipped with their original stainless steel hubcaps, also in excellent condition. This specimen is equipped with 4 whitewall tires with less than 30% wear both front and rear. This specimen has also retained its spare wheel. Among the interesting Body / Exterior equipment and options present on this model, we found: the colored windshield "Green" and the recent mohair hood "Tan". Interior: The interior has maintained its period configuration and appears in good presentation condition. The "Black" imitation leather upholstery and matching door panels are in good condition. We found small scratches and dents on the aluminum trim of the driver and passenger door panels. The dashboard cover in "Black" imitation leather is in good condition despite a small detachment on the passenger side. The original instrumentation is complete and fully functional. Only the tachometer remains slightly noisy. The clock is fully functional. The period radio has been kept for aesthetic reasons but is no longer functional. The 3-spoke leather steering wheel "Black" shows a uniform patina of use. The HURST shifter and the Bakelite shift knob "White" are in good condition. The "Black" carpets have been recently replaced and are in perfect condition. The stainless steel door sills are in good condition. Among the interesting options and equipment in the Interior that this specimen is equipped with, we found: the HURST shifter and the recent "Black" carpet kit. Chassis: The lift confirms a healthy body and chassis, with no visible signs of accidents or apparent structural corrosion. The fundamentals: ladder frame, body floor, floor pans, wheel wells and wheel passages are in excellent condition. Usage reserve: as a principle we cannot
