Biarritz Sports And Classic Cars (Bscc) is pleased to present this Chevron B8. The Chevron brand was based in Lancashire and built high-performance racing cars in a former mill in Bolton. The man behind Chevron was Derek Bennett, a self-taught engineer who became a racing driver. The first car appeared in 1965, the B1, and they produced over 47 different models, until the tragic death of Bennett in a hang-gliding accident in 1978. Chevron produced some of the most spectacular and successful racing cars the world has ever seen. Chevron built only 44 B8 models between 1968 and 1970, of which 34 had the 2.0-liter BMW engine. Whatever engine was used, the B8 remained a very effective and competitive racing car in international races, thanks to its combination of agility and speed. This situation continues to this day where, in historic races, Chevron B8s often finish on the podium. This B8 began its career as a factory car in South Africa with Brian Redman as the driver. An external oil cooler had been installed above the engine cover to aid in cooling the car that ran at high temperatures. This Chevron participated in many races in this region until 1973 (Kyalami, Lourenco, Cape Town). It remained in South Africa until 2002 and was then sold to Europe. In recent years, it participated in the Mans Classic in 2004 and 2014. The external oil cooler will be reinstalled as originally fitted. The car will be serviced for sale and will be provided with a renewed PTH.
