Gran Turismo, competition, Formula 2 and even Formula 1, De Tomaso lived his adventurous life on the edge, outside the norms, as a prodigy engineer and pioneer. Among his creations, the most radical is the ultra-rare and elitist Guarà with a central-rear BMW engine, like the BMW M1 and the McLaren F1... Only eighteen examples, it is the last imprint, the legacy of a master of the automobile of the 20th century. DE TOMASO: From Vallelunga to Guarà The story of De Tomaso is rich, marked by extraordinary cars, legendary Gran Turismo, through beautiful racing prototypes, up to Formula 1. Like Enzo Ferrari, it is from this experience that he drew his inspiration for the ultra-sporty GTs he conceived. Alejandro De Tomaso presented the Guarà at the Geneva Motor Show in 1993, which will remain as his last creation, returning to his initial recipe: a racing chassis as a base to create a sporty GT, as the first De Tomaso was born, the beautiful and very rare Vallelunga. Being then the owner of Maserati, De Tomaso was inspired by the chassis of his very exclusive Maserati Barchetta Trofeo, a car reserved for the track, designed by a F1 engineer; this chassis is very light, effective, and has a central beam as the tradition of De Tomaso sports cars requires. Formula 1 Suspensions Offered at an extremely high price, De Tomaso would only build about fifty Guarà; only the first 18, confused Coupé and Spider, are powered by a 4.0 L BMW V8. (the later, less light ones, will be equipped with a Ford engine). The extremely rare 2-seater super sports cars with a central high-displacement engine that use BMW mechanics are: the BMW M1 (453 units) conceived at Lamborghini, the McLaren F1 (106 units) conceived by Gordon Murray, and the De Tomaso Guarà (18 units). This rarity adds greater interest to the Guarà we propose, which is also one of the first built. The cockpit is spacious and comfortable, completely covered in leather; the transmission is geared. The Guarà is very light, only 1200 kg. resting on its very elaborate suspensions, its racing lineage performs wonders, its dynamic behavior is out of the ordinary. These three exceptional De Tomaso have featured in our collection, two Pantera, one of the very first, very beautiful and rare L of the early ones, the other a GT5-S, towards the end of the model's production; finally, a sublime Mangusta, in the center. De Tomaso, is a life of automotive passion, with limitless boldness, from racing to industrial adventure. His creations, like those of Lamborghini, were always ambitious in their conception, original and beautiful, both the road cars and the racing prototypes. The Guarà, the final point of this extraordinary epic, is obviously of great historical interest and a very rare and wonderful collector's car. We have carried out a very important general overhaul completed by the installation of four tires and new front brake discs. The car is equipped with a stainless steel sports exhaust.
