Passionate about motorsport, Argentine Alejandro De Tomaso founded his automotive company in 1959 near Modena. Recognition came with the Pantera, whose design is credited to Giugiaro (as is that of the Mangusta). Unveiled in 1970 at the New York Auto Show, it has the Chevrolet Corvette as its main competitor. Featuring a steel monocoque chassis housing a 5.8-liter Ford V8 Cleveland engine producing 310 hp, the Italian car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. Its main asset is its unbeatable price/performance ratio compared to the competition, and Alejandro DeTomaso drives the point home by negotiating its distribution in the United States (its main market) through the Lincoln Mercury network. During the first year, 1,007 units were sold there, a very significant figure for the company! This Pantera is the 160th built, delivered new in France by the Franco-British garage, and has had only four owners. The last of them, a Ferrari dealer, took care of the car meticulously and restored it between 2010 and 2015. The Push Button version is recognizable by its door handles that differ from other Panteras and represents the very first produced (382 push button produced) before the line evolved.
