In 1970 DODGE introduced the Challenger, a muscle car derived from the Coronet and intended to compete with the PONTIAC Firebird, the CHEVROLET Camaro, and the MERCURY Cougar. Designed by Carl Cameron, also the father of the DODGE Charger 1966, the Challenger features a longer wheelbase and larger dimensions than the category standard to target the high-end segment of Pony Cars. Its elegant, classic, and aggressive line will allow it to achieve true commercial success and make the Challenger an icon of American automotive culture. Body / Exterior: The model presented here is a DODGE Challenger from January 1972 in its period "Lemon Yellow" color. The body was restored a few years ago and on this occasion, the shell received a complete new paint job. After a professional polishing done with an orbital polisher by our workshop, we noticed a small defect under the paint on the contour of the left rear window. The front hood is equipped with quick-release Drag Race type attachments to emphasize the muscle car side of this DODGE Challenger. The chrome bumpers are perfectly positioned and in good condition, with no signs of dents or oxidation. The "Black" stripes are in excellent condition. The tinted windows and the "Blue" shaded windshield are in good condition. We detected a laminate on the edge of the driver's side glass. The 4 14'' steel wheels and their chrome hubcaps are in good condition. We noticed slight oxidation on the hubcaps. These are mounted on 4 BF GOODRICH tires that show 30% wear on the front and 40% on the rear. This specimen has retained its original spare wheel and jack. Among the interesting body equipment and options that this model is equipped with, we noted: Tinted windows, the "Blue" shaded windshield, the rear spoiler, and the pair of Hood quick releases. Interior: The interior has retained its original configuration and appears in excellent presentation condition. The front seats in "Black" vinyl are in excellent condition. The rear bench in "Black" vinyl is in very good condition. The "Black" vinyl door panels are also in good condition, with no signs of wear or stretching. The original imitation wood door panel inserts are in good condition. The "Black" vinyl headliner is also in very good condition. The "Black" dashboard is in excellent condition, with no signs of fading, cracks, or breaks. The original instrumentation is fully functional, except for the clock, the daily odometer, and the dashboard lighting. This specimen is equipped with the power steering option as original factory equipment. The 2-spoke PVC steering wheel shows a patina of use. The KENWOOD CD radio is fully functional. This specimen is equipped with "aviation" type seat belts both front and rear. The "Black" carpets are in excellent original condition, with no signs of wear or fading. Among the interesting interior equipment and options that this specimen is equipped with, we noted: Power steering.
