DUCATI 999R (2003-2006) Limited edition of 800 units First registration in Germany 3rd hand Corresponding numbers: frame / engine / gearbox Corresponding color: Anniversary Red Original maintenance booklet Original user manuals Maintenance at DUCATI center and brand specialist Large diameter stainless steel exhaust Termignoni silencer Smoked windscreen Carbon fairing Front and rear carbon fenders ÖHLINS suspensions ÖHLINS steering damper Clutch replaced at 14,961 km Silicone cooling hoses Magnesium cam covers New distribution upon delivery Carbon distribution cover Rearset racing controls MICHELIN Pilot tires 17'' MARCHESINI forged wheels Carbon seat Desmosedici type backrest Original MAGNETTI MARELLI dashboard DUCATI internal cover Our analysis Model history: Unveiled at the Milan show in 2003, the Ducati 999R represents the most radical interpretation of the 999 line, conceived primarily as a homologation machine intended to dominate the global superbike market. Designed under the direction of Pierre Terblanche, it adopts a deeply revised engine, a sharper chassis with a trellis frame, and noble materials that set it apart from the competition. The 999R features the Testastretta twin-cylinder engine with increased bore, specific heads, titanium valves, and optimized intake. It also adopts carbon fairings, Öhlins suspensions, and 4-piston radial calipers with 4 pads. This version offers a more decisive, longer, and more explosive push compared to the 999 or 999S models. Contemporary journalistic tests emphasize that this version resembles more a registered race bike than a production version. The 999R has become one of the most collected modern Ducatis, often regarded as the last "purist" superbike before the electronic era. Bodywork: The model presented here is a DUCATI 999R from July 2005 in its original color "Anniversary Red" (corresponding color). The paint is still in excellent condition, showing a uniform shade and excellent brightness. After a professional polishing performed with an orbital polisher by our workshop, we noticed some micro scratches. The carbon fairings are in excellent condition. The MICHELIN Pilot tires show 20% wear both front and rear. The 17'' MARCHESINI forged wheels are in perfect condition. This specimen is equipped with a smoked windscreen and a Desmosedici type backrest in perfect condition. Among the interesting equipment and options that this specimen is equipped with, we noted: the DUCATI internal cover, the carbon fairings, the smoked windscreen, and the Desmosedici type backrest. Instrumentation: The MAGNETTI MARELLI dashboard is fully functional. We noticed a crack on the tachometer dial. Frame: The inspection confirms a tubular steel trellis without visible accident traces or apparent structural corrosion. The braking system is stable, aligned, and compliant with the standards of the time, without vibrations or abnormal noises. This specimen is equipped with rearset racing controls. The front and rear brake discs show 20% wear. The front and rear brake pads show 20% wear. The technical control carried out before delivery will confirm the proper functioning of the whole. Engine / Transmission: The original DUCATI maintenance booklet certifies regular follow-up at the DUCATI center and brand specialist. The mechanics work perfectly. The Testastretta V2 starts on the first try and the idle is stable as confirmed by the 360° video made with the engine running and available at the beginning of the slideshow. The sound of the V2 Testastretta is enhanced by a large diameter stainless steel exhaust system and a TERMINIONI silencer. Cooling is improved by the installation of silicone hoses. The mechanical gearbox shifts the 6 gears smoothly at the synchronization level. The clutch grip is good, it was replaced at 14,961 km. The Ducati 999R embodies the very essence of the superbike: a rare, sharp machine built uncompromisingly for pure performance. Its deeply revised Testastretta engine, its exceptional chassis, and its carbon bodywork make it a true homologated race bike. The last representative of an era when mechanical dominance prevailed over electronics, the 999R remains an absolute icon for enthusiasts.
