The story

COEUR DE LEGENDE 24 Heures du Mans 1958, victory of Olivier Gendebien and Phil Hill on Ferrari Testa Rossa. In 1959 the Ferrari 250 GT took the first four places in the GT category, finishing 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th in the overall classification of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The following year in 1960, the 250 Testa Rossa achieved a winning double in the overall classification, and the 250 GT short chassis took the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th places. All these cars were equipped with the same 3-liter V12 Colombo engine with a single camshaft as the 250 Pininfarina coupe. No engine has achieved as much success in competition and at the same time gained as much prestige in Grand Touring as the famous Ferrari Colombo V12. Such domination of an engine on a global level in Prototype and GT had never been seen before and has never been repeated since. It is this prodigious, virtually invincible machinery that is the very heart of Ferrari's fame, which powers the 250 GT Coupé Pininfarina. It is the only Ferrari 250 two-seater that is still accessible (for now), for the others you need to invest between two and ten times more... Berlinette Tour de France in evening attire. It shares with it its chassis and all its mechanical components (Engine Type 128 / Chassis Type 508), its body, a perfection of classic beauty, hides its game. This very close proximity, to say the least fusion, between competition and road models is at the birth of Ferrari and continued until the early 60s, with the 250 GTO and 250 LM. The 250 GT Coupé Pininfarina is a forgotten treasure, confidential, still largely undervalued, it brings joy to discerning collectors. When, in 1959, a Ferrari 250 GT finished third in the overall classification of the 24 H. of Le Mans, winning the GT category, covering 4001 km, its average over 24 hours nears 170 km/h... including refueling, tire changes, the uncertainties of the race, and night driving... Simply extraordinary. The Ferrari V12s are in a league of their own, at the top, they forever represent the ultimate dream cars. All the efforts of other manufacturers to match them have been in vain. This example is part of the first series of the model, historically the most valuable. The pleasure and emotion of getting behind the wheel, simply starting it, then making such machinery come alive, are indescribable. These wonderful automobiles are rare, a total of 353 (series 1 and 2) were built, but according to our records kept for decades, of the 140 survivors, fewer than 90 of the first series would remain. Many have disappeared, or have served as a basis for receiving Tour de France, California, or Testa Rossa bodies. 250 GT Coupe Pininfarina 1959 Price: 625,000 € contact email ACCUEIL PAMBUFFETTI VENTE
