Ferrari 275 GTB/4 1967 for sale

This example of the legendary Ferrari 275 GTB/4 was completed in March 1967 at the factory and delivered to John Von Neumann in Geneva. He immediately sold the GTB/4 to Garage Montchoisy SA in Geneva of Georges Filipinetti, who wanted to use the car in motorsport. Georges Filipinetti was a prominent Swiss businessman as well as the founder and owner of the Swiss motorsport team "Scuderia Filipinetti" (Ecurie Filipinetti). The team was born from the "1' Equipe Nationale Suisse" and was one of the first teams funded exclusively by sponsors. Thanks to its enormous successes from 1962 to 1973, it became one of the most prestigious private motorsport teams. The Swiss driver Jo Siffert's debut in Formula 1 marked the beginning in 1962. Other notable high-level drivers included Jim Clark, Phil Hill, Ronnie Peterson, Herbert Müller, and Jo Bonnier. The team was independent of the makes and participated in various classes of motorsport with various vehicles from the brands Lotus, Porsche, Ferrari, Lola, Ford, Shelby AC Cobra, and Fiat. This Ferrari 275 GTB/4 was entered in 1967 for several races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans (April 8, practice), the 1000 kilometers of Monza (April 25), the 51st Targa Florio (May 14), and the XIII ADAC 1000 Kilometer Lauf at Nürburgring (May 28). However, the car had few opportunities for actual use. In hindsight, this is probably due to the fact that Scuderia Filipinetti was using another Ferrari 275 GTB in its class competitions, namely a Competizione version with lightweight aluminum bodywork, which was ultimately used more frequently in races and was the preferred racing car. In March 1969, the 275 GTB/4 was then sold through Garage Montchoisy SA to the Ferrari importer (and racing team manager) for the eastern coast of the United States, Luigi Chinetti Motors Inc. in Connecticut. It brought the racing car back to Italy in 1970 to Carrozzeria Sport Cars of Piero Drogo for bodywork and received it back the same year. A year later, Chinetti rented the 275 GTB/4 to Paramount Studios in Hollywood for the filming of the movie "A New Leaf" with Walther Matthau. In January 1971, Chinetti sold the sports car to the next owner (name known), an entrepreneur in the state of New York. He kept the sports car for several years until in 1979 the next owner, John P. Giordano, also in the state of New York, acquired it. This is a well-known Ferrari collector and motorsport enthusiast, who owns numerous racing Ferraris (including 512S, 275 GTB Competizione). He had the car restored and remained faithful to it for a full 25 years. In 2004, he finally sold the GTB/4 with a mileage of 36,000 km to Jean Guikas of GTC in Marseille, also a motorsport enthusiast and Ferrari collector. Still in the same year, the car found a new home with former driver Dominik Ellenrieder. At the beginning of 2006, the GTB/4 was then sold to a renowned car collector in Germany. This then transferred the sports car three years later to the current owner, who participates with it in some historic motorsport events in Europe. This Ferrari 275 GTB/4 stands out for its original motorsport destination at Scuderia Filipinetti, which has also remained with subsequent owners. It is still present today through the racing appearance and equipment with racing tank, roll-bar, fire extinguishing system, racing belts, and other necessary accessories.
