Heir to the 328 GTB, it was actually a completely new car that offered innovative solutions to the theme of the two-seater berlinetta with a centrally positioned V8 engine. The bodywork alternated stylistic motifs typical of the Testarossa, present on the sides, with those of some classic models from the past, such as the front end reminiscent of the 375 MM spider version with the hardtop of the 348 TB, which was equipped with the same powertrain that provided it with performance equal to that of the "berlinetta". The design of the bodywork was, in this case, also by Pininfarina. The remarkable dynamic qualities of the two versions were very well expressed in track use: therefore, in 1993, a Challenge dedicated to these cars was established. Initially, the engine delivered 300 horsepower, which seems little today, but at the time it certainly was not; the top speed of the Ferrari 348 was 275 km/h, with a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. The numerical designation chosen for this car of the Prancing Horse stands for 3.4 liters and 8 cylinders, one of its most innovative features was the semi-monocoque chassis with high torsional strength, it was the first Red from Maranello produced in series without the previous type of chassis.
