Following an initial gentle update the previous year, the car received a comprehensive revision as the Evo version, with the aim of further increasing performance, drivability and operational flexibility in customer racing. The focus lay in particular on improvements in the areas of aerodynamics, handling, ergonomics, safety and reliability. A central development focus was aerodynamics, especially at the front end. Ferrari invested around 18,000 hours in calculations and CFD simulations, followed by wind-tunnel testing, to optimise the airflow. The result is a redesigned front bumper with a reduced surface below the headlights, complemented by side flicks that increase downforce at the front axle. In addition, the air outlets at the front wheel arches were enlarged and the front door areas tapered to make the airflow around the car more efficient. The 488 GT3 Evo was also significantly further developed in terms of handling. The wheelbase was lengthened, which, alongside greater driving stability, results in improved tyre management and reduced wear. At the same time, this change made it easier for teams to convert between GT3 and GTE specification. Furthermore, the vehicle weight was reduced, giving teams more scope with ballast to reach the prescribed minimum weight optimally. The proven 3.9-litre V8 biturbo engine remained unchanged in its basic configuration but received revised electronics. The traction control and ABS systems were also optimised to allow even more precise tuning and better drivability. Inside, a new, lighter yet more rigid racing seat was developed together with Sabelt, improving both safety and ergonomics. For teams running the 488 GT3 Evo in endurance events, Ferrari additionally offers an optional Endurance package that meets the demands of longer race distances. Overall, the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo represents a consistent further development based on years of racing experience, making the car one of the most versatile and successful GT3 racers of its generation. This 488 GT3 Evo is additionally fitted with the Endurance package, meaning the following components are installed: tyre-pressure monitoring system, drinks system, air conditioning, endurance brake calipers, endurance lighting, carbon clutch, and a Motec 4G telemetry and data-logging system with reversing camera, including a display integrated into the dashboard. According to the previous owner, HubAuto, the car was campaigned by their race team in various championships between 2018 and 2020. It began with the 2018 Blancpain Asia championship, in which the car took two race wins, ultimately finishing the championship in second place. In 2019 it took part in the Blancpain Asia championship once again, which, after solid results, led to third place in the Silver Cup standings. That same year it competed in the Asian Le Mans Series, which, thanks to winning results, led to victory in the GT Teams championship and crowned this 488 GT3 Evo as the championship-winning car of the 2019/2020 season. On 25 October 2020, the car lined up at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps carrying race number 27 and the renowned crew of Tom Blomqvist, Marcos Gomes and former Formula 1 driver and Le Mans winner Kamui Kobayashi. After a new engine had to be fitted during practice, the team missed the prescribed minimum number of completed laps and therefore had to start the race from the pit lane. After the trio had made up an astonishing 41 places in the race, the car sadly had to be retired after 23 hours and 45 minutes due to renewed engine problems shortly before the finish. These problems were rectified after the race. The livery from that race is still on the car today. Beneath the wrap lies bare, exposed carbon. In 2022 we bought the car from HubAuto and kept it in the Mechatronik collection over the following years. The engine has covered 3,050 km and the gearbox 4,450 km.
