The story
Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, chassis #06878, produced on July 17, 1973, and delivered new through Garage Francorchamps in Belgium. One of only 401 left-hand drive European specification 246 GTS examples produced, and one of only 114 cars (GT and GTS) finished in the rare and elegant optional Glidden Salchi "Rosso Bordeaux" color. Finished in its original color combination of Rosso Bordeaux (20-R-351) with beige leather interior (VM3218), the car retains its matching numbers engine and body. It benefits from a well-documented history, including ownership by Christian Philippsen (Secretary General of the French Ferrari Club), Baron Bic, and renowned collector Jacques Dufau. In 1991, the car was returned to Maranello for a complete restoration, including a bare metal repaint in its original color. Subsequently, in 2009, following an engine issue, the original engine block was replaced; it is important to note that the original (damaged) block has been retained and is provided with the car. Further work has included a complete engine overhaul and a gearbox overhaul, along with additional mechanical restoration over the years (supported by invoices and photographs), including brakes, suspension, wheels, and interior. The car has covered approximately 109,000 km since new, with about 7,000 km since the last engine overhaul. Presented today in superb condition, with original colors, matching numbers engine and body, and excellent mechanical integrity, this Dino represents a highly desirable and well-maintained example. This car is available for viewing at our premises located in the south of France, by appointment only.
