The story

Championne Endurance Racing Legends in 2022 - 3rd in the Championship in 2023 and 2024 A very fast LMP1: in 2002, chassis #4 finished 2nd at the 24 Hours of Daytona and 3rd at Sebring, and chassis 5 qualified in 7th position at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2003 Historic in the American Le Mans Series, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the 1000 km of Le Mans in 2003 Prepared and maintained at the highest level by Scott Sport - Ready to race Eligible for Dubai GP Revival, Masters Endurance Legends, Motor Racing Legends, Monterey, Daytona Classic, Endurance Racing Legends by Peter Auto, and Le Mans Classic Legend 2026 A brand new Riley & Scott for 2021 benefiting from the best technology In 2001, the Riley & Scott MKIII C succeeded the MKIII which had been born in 1995 and which was the main competitor of the Ferrari 333 SP. The idea behind this new model was not to evolve the MKIII but clearly to create a completely new car using, of course, the experience accumulated during the design of the Cadillac Northstar LMP for General Motors in 2000. The chassis is designed in steel with carbon inserts and is much stiffer than that of the MKIII: at the launch of the MKIIIC, Bob Riley indicated that it was 40% stiffer. Externally, major evolutions are emerging. In accordance with the LMP900 regulations, the safety hoop no longer runs across the entire width of the cockpit, but is only present behind the driver. It is taken directly from the Northstar LMP. The front of the cockpit has also been redesigned, with an aerodynamic windshield added immediately in front of the driver. The front end, more sloping, is also more rounded. The radiator air intakes are designed to cover the entire width of the nose while being thinner. The airflow management is much better, aerodynamics are optimized, and the MKIIIC benefits from much more downforce at high speeds. Mechanically, the transmission of the MKIII C marks a significant improvement compared to the MKIII. A market reference, namely the X-Trac 6-speed sequential gearbox is present. It is controlled by a pneumatic system developed by Megaline activated by paddles on the steering wheel. The engine is entrusted to Elan, which equips the very efficient Panoz, and then to YATES in 2003. The brakes are now carbon. Proof of the seriousness of the MKIII C project, Audi had spied on the American manufacturer. Indeed, a chassis had been recovered by the brand with the rings, which studied it in its own wind tunnel. By studying it in minute detail, the engineers from Ingolstadt saw that the Americans had done a good job. A competitor that had potential, to the point of arousing the curiosity of Audi. The Riley & Scott MKIIIC on the podium at the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring The results did not take long to arrive, in 2002 chassis #04 entered by Riley & Scott finished 2nd at the 24 Hours of Daytona and 3rd at the 12 Hours of Sebring. During the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it qualified in 16th position while running on Good Year tires, which was not at all a guarantee of speed as we will see the following year... In total, five MKIII C are assembled. Only four were entered in competition, chassis #03 being the one for the FIA crash test. Chassis #005 offered for sale and part of the Ascott Collection is the last chassis assembled by Riley & Scott and entered as an official car by Riley & Scott in 2003. In 2003, Jim Matthews, who was already racing on the official 2002 car (chassis #04), is still the mainstay of the official Riley & Scott team. The car will be entered in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was also entered during the only event of the 1000 kilometers of Le Mans in September 2003, initiator of the Le Mans Series. Its last competitive outing was during the 12 Hours of Sebring 2004. A short one-year career. This Riley & Scott MKIIIC particularly stood out at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2003. The team had changed tire suppliers and it was now fitted with Michelin that the official Riley & Scott presented itself in Sarthe. Thus, during the great week of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Marc Goossens recorded an exceptional time of 3'37''476. The car is 7th on the grid, behind the Bentley Speed 8, the Audi R8, and a Dome S101. For comparison, the fastest of the Audi R8 (car #10 of Biela, Salo, and McCarthy) is in 3'35''745. The Riley & Scott is less than two seconds from the best Audi R8, a performance that does not go unnoticed since the Riley & Scott MKIII C is thus in the rhythm of the best LMP900 of the moment. Unfortunately, the engine will break during the race forcing the team to retire. In 2004, it was entered in the LMP1 category at the 12 Hours of Sebring, where it qualified in
