The story
Biarritz Sports And Classic Cars (Bscc) is pleased to present this Ford Escort RS2000 MKII Group 2. The Escort RS2000 was the sporty version of the range. Equipped with the famous 8-valve Pinto engine, it was marketed with a power of 110hp. After the winning MK I in the European Rally Championship in 1968 and 1969, the MKII would be crowned world rally champion in 1979 with Björn Waldegård and in 1981 with Ari Vatanen. This Ford Escort is a true RS2000 (Australian Manufacture) with RS2000 grey paper. It has been in the hands of its owner since 1976. The latter, a renowned driver in the South-West, has given it a nice track record: -2nd in Group 2 at the Bayonne Denek Batt 1983 French Rally Championship -2nd in Scratch Classification at the Adour Pyrenees Regional Rally -1st in Scratch Classification at the Basque Coast Historic Rally 2010 -1st in Scratch Classification at the Basque Coast Historic Rally 2011 -4th in Scratch Classification at the Vasco Navarro Historico Rally 2011 - 1st in Scratch Classification at the VHRS Bordeaux Aquitaine Classic Rally 2012 The bodywork of this Escort has been prepared according to David Sutton's specifications. Engine: - Pinto type engine develops 190hp. - Block 205, lightened crankshaft and flywheel. Balanced clutch mechanism, Trimetal ACL bearings - Burton Stage 3 head, with large valves, double valve spring (80Kg). - Kent camshaft Reference HT1E, diagram 53-79-89-43, adjustable pulley. - Forged aluminum pistons, short skirts, H-beams, ARP bolts, Cometic head gasket. - High-pressure Sierra Cosworth type oil pump, large capacity aluminum oil pan, oil radiator. - 2 vertical Weber 44IDF carburetors, exhaust 4 large diameter tubular outlets, - 123 Ignition (with 2 registered curves), high capacity coil, - 3 core aluminum water radiator Group 4, electric fan controlled by thermostat, - Large diameter exhaust line, Burton silencer. - Lambda probe with wealth control gauge on the dashboard. Gearbox - 5-speed N9 type gearbox (Sierra origin) with modified long 1st gear, - Sintered metal clutch disc and Sierra mechanism, - The gearbox tunnel on the body is equipped with openings that allow the gearbox to be removed and replaced (without the clutch bell) in ½ hour (David Sutton Mounting). Rear Axle - Reinforced Banjo type axle. Reinforced wheel shafts in two parts Quaife - Salisbury type ratchet limited-slip axle, Pinion 8x125, - Adjustable axle support rods, adjustable Panhard bar, - Intermediate bearing drive shaft Brakes: - Ventilated front discs Diameter 245 Wilwood 4 piston caliper, "Carbone Lorraine" pads. - Non-ventilated rear discs with Sierra Cosworth type calipers, "Carbone Lorraine" pads. - Hydraulic handbrake. - Palonnier kit (Pedal Box) that allows with knob to modulate the AV/AR bias in travel. - Aviation type brake lines. Steering: - Group 1 type rack, direct steering (2 ¼ turns from end to end): - Electrically assisted steering column. Suspension: - Front Mac Pherson type combined Adjustable height springs, Bilstein shock absorbers - Large diameter stabilizer bar Group 1 homologated, type 3 bearings. - Adjustable lower Mac Pherson support rods for camber adjustment. - Reinforced and modified engine support cross members to allow all adjustments of the front axle. - Bilstein brand rear shock absorbers. Rear trunk: - 2 low-pressure electric fuel pumps Facet - Bolted straps for spare wheel retention - Aluminum jack support with diamond. - Battery in aluminum trunk and plastic cover Wheels: - A set of 7 Inch Minilite wheels fitted with 205x60x13 Bodywork: - Polyester front bumpers - Polyester rear hood - Rear windows and side windows in Macrolon. - Standard 6-point safety roll bar with door reinforcement- Seats - Seat belts- Fire extinguisher- Dashboard: - Stack speedometer - Oil Pressure - Oil Temperature + Oil Pressure Light - Gas Wealth Control - AV/AR Brake Distribution Knob A special F2000 technical passport, a Classic Group PTH and a VHRS pass in TC group will allow you to participate in most historic rally events.
