Lightning success with 22,000 units sold from day one. Young baby boomers of driving age flock to this eye-catching car, much more fashionable than the huge post-war Cadillacs that crowd the streets. The recipe for success is simple: a base and mechanical components derived from the mass production, all dressed in a body with sportier and more modern lines, with an endless list of options, allowing everyone to make their Mustang unique. It will be one of Ford's greatest commercial successes since the famous T, and the Mustang will be sold all the way to Europe. Body / Exterior: The model presented here is a February 1966 Mustang V8 convertible in its original "Candy Apple Red" color (Matched colors) The body received a new paint job a few years ago and is now in excellent presentation condition. After a professional polishing performed with an orbital polisher from our workshop, we noticed the presence of some small barely visible dents on the front hood and on the windshield frame. We also noticed some dust under the paint on the trunk and a defect under the paint on the bottom of the left front door and on the bottom of the left rear wing. The chrome bumpers are perfectly aligned and in excellent condition, with no signs of impacts or oxidation. The windshield has a small crack at the lower right edge. The grille is in excellent condition, with no signs of oxidation or deformation. The electric hood in "Black" PVC is in perfect condition. The rear mica in PVC is also in good condition, with no tears or yellowing. The operation of the electric hood and its sealing remains compliant with the original. The "Black" vinyl hood cover is in excellent condition and positions easily. The chrome rearview mirror shows some light signs of oxidation. The 4 original 14'' steel wheels are equipped with their chrome spoke hubcaps. The whole is in excellent presentation condition. The white sidewall tires show 20% wear both front and rear. This specimen has also retained its original spare wheel. Among the interesting external options and equipment that this specimen is equipped with, we noted: the electric hood in "Black" PVC and the hood cover in "Black" vinyl. Interior: The "Dark Red" vinyl interior has maintained its strict original configuration and appears in good presentation condition. The "Dark Red" vinyl upholstery shows a small trace of discoloration on the front seats and on the backs. The outer pass of the driver's backrest shows more pronounced wear. The dashboard is in good condition despite some scratches around the lighter and its contour, as well as some small paint chips on the glove compartment lid. The "Black" vinyl sun visor is in excellent condition. The matching door panels are in good presentation condition despite some stretching. The entire instrument cluster is perfectly functional. The heating / ventilation block is no longer functional as is the vintage FORD radio.
