The story

Ford Mustang coupé V8 Racing Classic Car Design offers you this powerful Ford Mustang V8 289 coupé in "racing" style. Besides the model, it is the work done that is impressive! Its owner, a member of the Mustang Club de France, has been driving a Mustang for many years. He has spent without counting and spent countless hours to realize his dream. A dossier of invoices and photos often 5 cm retraces the restoration and preparation of the car. Over 73,000€ (seventy-three thousand) have been invested over a period of almost 6 years. Since then, the car has covered just over 2600 km. It benefits from an LP VRH from the FIA / FFSA (Pass for historic regularity vehicle) in the "tourism" category. It is impossible to provide you with an exhaustive list of everything that has been done, but here is a summary: The base car is a 66 model with a Californian C code that was first registered in 1965. It has been completely disassembled to work on all the sheet metal and mount the homologated roll bar. Now the beautiful "Sylver blue" covers the entire bodywork. The yellow stripe is a tribute to the famous AC Cobra 289 FIA. The front bumper has disappeared in favor of a Shelby-type skirt topped by Oscar Cibié lights. From a mechanical point of view, everything has been redone or mounted as new. The Ford Racing 302 engine is equipped with ICON forged pistons and Eagle H beam connecting rods. It is fed by a Holley 670 cfm carburetor on an Edelbrock performer intake. It also benefits from a complete MSD ignition, an oil radiator with a large capacity Milodon oil pan. In continuity with the 4 into 1 headers, the stainless steel exhaust system with side exits has been custom made. This engine is coupled to a 4-speed Top-loader transmission that transmits power to the locking differential. There is no power steering or braking assistance. Still drum at the rear, the front brake consists of 4-piston calipers and 280 mm Wilwood discs. The control is done via a pedal box of the same brand. The suspension has been entrusted to 4 Koni. As on the Shelbys, the upper triangle mounts have been moved and the axle is equipped with rods. The wheels are American Racing 6x15 fitted with semi-slicks. Inside, the atmosphere is just as sporty even though the carpets and door panels are present. The dashboard features a complete Autometer instrumentation. Everything is there to participate in regularity rallies and track sessions: Lecarra steering wheel, bucket seats, harnesses, brake balance control, Tripmaster, fire extinguishers, one of which has dual internal/external controls and nozzles in the cabin and engine compartment, emergency switch... The battery has been placed in the trunk. Here is also the large capacity tank with vertical filling. Having had the chance to drive this beast on the track and to have been a co-driver in a historic rally, I can tell you that this Pony car is a bomb worthy of the Mustang myth!
