The story
The Horch is presented in a sensational original condition. from a top-class collection Like Walter O. Bentley, August Horch ( ) also started out building trains. To make his brand better known, he also took part in competitions with his cars. At the Herkommer Fahrten in 1905 and 1906 - the most important motor sport event of its time in Germany - the cars did very well, in 1906 even winning the whole event. In 1923, Horch initiated the left-hand drive system for automobiles, which by now had become standardised almost worldwide. In 1932, Horch, Wanderer, DKW and Audi merged to form Auto Union AG. The 853 was Horchs top model at the time and competed strongly with the 500K from Mercedes-Benz. With a new price of 13900 Reichsmark, the 853 remained affordable only for a very wealthy clientele, because even a Ford Cologne for 2300 Reichsmark, the average worker could only dream of. Less than 1000 vehicles of the 850-Sport, 853 and 853A models left the factory, many of which were lost in the turmoil of war and the post-war period.
