1961 JAGUAR E-Type 3.8 Roadster External Hood Latch Produced on July 24, 1961, chassis 875282 is a particularly desirable early production Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Roadster, characterized by the distinctive external hood latches, welded hood panels, and flat floors of the early cars. Delivered new via Jaguar Cars to New York, the car was originally finished in Cream with Red interior and Black hood - the same elegant specification it is presented in today. Its Jaguar Heritage certificate records engine R1363-9, body R1401, and gearbox EB463JS. After many years in the USA, the E-Type was imported to the UK in 2017 and subsequently underwent an exceptionally thorough restoration, completed in 2019 after approximately 2,254 hours of work. The project involved respected Jaguar specialists including Guy Broad, Neil Howe Racing, M&C Wilkinson, Martin Robey, and Aldridge Trimming, with particular emphasis placed on maintaining the original specification of the car and important early production components. Now registered in France, the Jaguar has been carefully maintained since restoration, with documentation extending to 2026. Presented in excellent condition, this early 3.8-liter Roadster is accompanied by an unusually extensive history file that includes Jaguar Heritage certification, restoration documentation and invoices, registration and import documents, technical inspections, and an independent appraisal from 2023.
