The story

Extensive full restoration German road approval! Detailed Lightweight construction Built for the demanding historic motorsport Built by LWR LTD Including service and new TÜV Specially constructed for racing, Jaguar created a lighter version of the E-Type in the winter of 1962/63, which was designated Lightweight. It differed significantly both externally and technically from the production version of the E-Type. Unlike the production vehicles, the monocoque of the Lightweight was made of aluminum sheets, and parts of the frame and suspension were reinforced. The rear subframe was taken from the Jaguar Mark X for better torsional rigidity, and the front brake calipers came from the Jaguar Mark IX. The engine of the car was also revised. While the engine block of the 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine of the production version was made of cast iron, the block in the Lightweight models was made of aluminum. The cylinder head was conceptually based on a design used in the Jaguar D-Type from 1955; however, it was revised in the area of the exhaust valves for the Lightweight. The compression was raised to 9.5:1. These modifications increased the engine output to about 320 hp (235 kW). The body of the Lightweight was also largely made of aluminum. Stylistically, it was similar to that of the E-Type Roadster and was equipped with a snug hardtop roof. The Lightweight weighed 920 kg empty. The Lindner-Lightweight reached a top speed of 259 km/h in 1964. In 1963, a total of twelve examples of the Lightweight were produced, which were largely structurally identical. Customers included American racing driver Briggs Cunningham, who bought a total of three Lightweight vehicles, German Jaguar importer and racing driver Peter Lindner, Kjell Qvale, and John Coombs, who initiated the Lightweight project at the end of 1962.
