The story
The 2+2 version, with a lengthened wheelbase, was produced in 1966. On 15 March 1961 the coupé version (in Jaguar terminology the "Fixed Head Coupé" or "FHC") was presented at the Geneva Motor Show, while the roadster (also known as the "Open Two Seater" or "OTS") was launched in April of the same year at the New York Motor Show. The model was officially built in three different series, designated Series 1, Series 2 and Series 3; but enthusiasts and many experts also recognise a Series 1 1/2, produced in the transition between Series 1 and 2. This last version was to consist of 18 examples, but only 12 were made, of which one was destroyed and at least two converted into convertibles. Thus, half a century later, the number of 18 examples originally planned was reached. In more recent times, the marque itself conceived the E-Type Zero, a classic E-Type re-equipped with an electric motor and transmission, a fully reversible modification that the company makes available to owners of the model.
