Offered at an unbeatable price, its extraordinary design combined with very high-performance mechanics made a bombshell effect at the time of its presentation to the press: it was at the time the most affordable sports car in its segment while its 240 km/h top speed made it the fastest production car in the world. It logically experienced enormous commercial success and a long career, particularly in the United States where it evolved into 3 successive series, series 1, 1 and a half, 2 and 3, each available in 3 body types: coupe, roadster, and 2+2 coupe. Body / Exterior: The model presented here is a JAGUAR Type E 4.2 Cabriolet from January 1970 in its period "Golden Sand" color. This is in excellent presentation condition, showing a deep and even tone and excellent brightness. After a professional polishing done with orbitals from our workshop, we noticed the presence of some small dust particles under the paint in various places on the body. We also noted a slight misalignment of the hood on the driver's side and a small paint chip on the edge of the left hood. The bumpers are perfectly aligned and free of signs of impacts or scratches. The right rear bumper appears slightly scratched on the top. The reverse light cabochons show some micro-cracks. The mohair hood in "Blue" color is in excellent condition and the rear window mica is perfectly translucent. The mohair hood cover in "Black" color is also in excellent condition. We noticed a misalignment of the hood structure with the driver and passenger windows. This specimen is equipped with tinted windows. The 4 chrome spoke wheels 15'' are in excellent condition, with no signs of impacts, deformations, or oxidation. The chrome knock-offs JAGUAR are also in excellent condition. The set is equipped with 4 VREDESTEIN tires. The latter show less than 10% wear both front and rear. This specimen comes with its painted spoke spare wheel as well as its hammer and jack. Interior: The interior is original (matching color / (JAGUAR Heritage Trust) The "Dark Blue" leather upholstery was restored a few years ago in accordance with its original color and is still in excellent condition today. The "Dark Blue" vinyl interior door panels are also in excellent condition. The driver and passenger seat has a small scratch, probably caused by the hood mechanism. The original dashboard is in excellent condition and shows no cracks or discoloration. The dashboard visor in "Black" vinyl is also in very good presentation condition. The central coupling in "Blue" vinyl has been restored and is in excellent condition. The entire SMITHS dashboard instrumentation is fully functional, except for the original clock. The original 3-spoke wooden JAGUAR steering wheel is in good condition. It has two small scratches. The Bakelite gear knob shows a patina of use. We noted the absence of the plastic cover under the steering column. The AUDIOVOX cassette radio and the vintage air conditioning have been preserved for aesthetic reasons but are not.
