The story
JAGUAR TYPE E S1 3.8L 1963 Jaguar Type E Série 1 3.8l Cabriolet (OTS) 1963 Matching number Certificat Jaguar Héritage The Type E, in its first cabriolet version, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful automotive designs in the world. A timeless style that still makes many dream today. This very beautiful example is part of the first models (1961-1963), the most desirable. The bordeaux/white combination is particularly elegant. This car was delivered new on April 5, 1963, at Jaguar Cars in New York. It remained there until its arrival in France in 2008. Since then, it has had only two owners, including the current one. It spent a few years in Monaco with a collector passionate about beautiful mechanics. The bodywork is in good presentation condition. The paint has a patinated appearance. Restored about fifteen years ago, the car has retained all its period charm. A complete technical assessment allowed us to confirm the absence of corrosion on the chassis and on the underbody. The front and rear axles have been redone in the past. The alignment of the openings is not perfect but of good quality. The chrome is in excellent condition and the front bumpers are new. The bordeaux hood is also new. On the engine side, it is equipped with its original 3.8l block fed by 3 SU carburetors. This famous inline 6-cylinder develops just over 265 hp. A must for the time! It is equipped with its original Moss 4-speed gearbox. The car is maintained by its owner as it should be. Among the recent work, we note: - the replacement of the water pump and the expansion tank - the installation of aluminum 4-piston brake calipers - the complete removal/reinstallation of the gearbox for refurbishment - the replacement of the complete clutch kit The car is followed by a specialist in these models. Finally, the bordeaux interior is in good presentation condition. Like all early models, it features the dashboard and center console in aluminum. The whole is rather well preserved with some normal wear defects related to time. The leather seats and door panels were redone a few years ago. The instrumentation is functional. It is equipped with a smaller steering wheel than the original for comfort reasons. Likewise, an electronic ignition has been installed to facilitate daily use. The detailed assessment highlighted a car that presents itself in good mechanical condition with a beautiful body and a well-crafted interior. A car that moreover, is matching number and has its Jaguar Héritage Certificate. The technical inspection is favorable until 01/2025.
