The story
JAGUAR XK 140 FHC OVERDRIVE 1956 Rare model, one of only 843 produced. The 1956 Jaguar XK 140 FHC Overdrive represents the elegant and high-performing evolution of the legendary XK series. Produced on February 29, 1956, this vehicle was delivered to the Cyril Williams dealership on March 14 of the same year, before being entrusted to the first owner, Charles Attwood of Wolverhampton, and registered with the plate RUK177. History and Restoration In 1976, the vehicle was imported to Italy, retaining the original English license plate. On April 19, 1980, it was registered to the first Italian owner with the plate TO U79517. A year later, on April 11, 1981, it passed to the second owner, retaining the original black Modena plates (MO532558) from that era. In 2008, due to the advanced age of the third owner (born in 1938), the vehicle was transferred to the collection of Cristiano Luzzago. When purchased, the vehicle still retained its original patina, as documented by photographs taken before the extremely thorough restoration and maintenance work. Among the most significant interventions are: Total repainting Replacement of all seals Complete overhaul of the braking system Battery replacement Installation of a new stainless steel exhaust system Mounting of Michelin tires Cooling system maintenance Fuel pump replacement Tank overhaul Despite these interventions, the vehicle has never undergone a complete restoration, maintaining its original character intact. The presence of the original green booklet and a detailed chronological extract impeccably documents the entire Italian history of the vehicle. In January 2025, the vehicle was accompanied by the “JAGUAR HERITAGE TRUST CERTIFICATE,” which certifies the total originality of the colors and the correspondence of all chassis and engine numbers, confirming its status as a collectible piece. Technical Features and Details The FHC (Fixed Head Coupe) model stands out for its refined design and the exclusivity derived from limited production. Equipped with a six-cylinder inline engine, the XK 140 offers a perfect combination of sporty performance and classic British elegance. The overdrive transmission allows for high cruising speeds with extreme ease, ensuring a smooth and comfortable drive. Other strengths include: Suspension and Brakes: The expertly calibrated suspension, combined with a complete braking system, ensures exceptional handling and a quick response in every situation. Original Details: The Connolly leather seats, fine woods, and original chrome highlight the craftsmanship dedicated to the model. Technical Components: The cooling system, stainless steel exhaust system, overhauled fuel pump, and tank, along with Michelin tires, complete a set that guarantees reliability and durability over time. Performance and Driving Experience The Jaguar XK 140 FHC Overdrive is renowned for its extremely pleasant driving experience. The overdrive transmission allows for sustained high speeds, making long journeys ideal. The synergy between a powerful engine, well-tuned suspension, and careful maintenance makes this vehicle a true gem for classic car enthusiasts, capable of combining sporty performance with sophisticated comfort.
