The story

Chassis number: 677813 Engine number: W9392-8 Matching number Model history: In October 1948, an automotive revolution is underway. Jaguar has been working for a few years on a new engine, powerful, lightweight, robust, and elegant. After several projects, engine number XK is born. However, the sports sedan is not finished. Sir Lyon then decides to create a new model, more refined, more elegant, more sensual, and more evocative of the great speed it can reach (120 miles). This will be the "Dream-Car" of the Earls Court show. Only a few weeks remain before the show, and the feat lies in the performance of creating not a barely mobile "Master" for the show, but a true open sports car. The entire Jaguar team mobilizes under the orders of William Lyon and Heynes, his chief engineer. The factory uses the brand new independent front suspension. The chassis, slightly modified, comes from the MKV, and the fittings are borrowed from the usual subcontractors' catalog. Only the name remains to be chosen. Nothing better than the engine's serial number followed by the top speed this incredible car can reach: it will therefore be the JAGUAR XK 120! History of this Jaguar XK120 convertible: It was delivered new to the United States in 1953 in its Pastel Green color. After being restored, it was imported to France in 2017. Still in its original colors, it is now in perfect working condition and sports a very Californian color code. Body: It has an excellent body that is very sound, with excellent door and hood alignments. The paint is in very nice condition with a superb shine. It has rare period Tripod headlights. The chrome on the windshield and bumpers is in superb condition. Upholstery: Its green leather upholstery is in excellent condition, with a beautiful patina. The beige hood and mohair lining have been restored, probably before importation. The dashboard woodwork in elm burl is stunning. Engine: It retains its original engine, which is in perfect condition, with excellent oil pressure and remarkable compressions. Regular maintenance and the addition of an extra fan to prevent overheating in modern traffic. Transmission: It is equipped with a more modern 5-speed gearbox. The operation is smooth, and the 5th gear offers exceptional comfort on the highway. Running gear: The steering and front axle are perfectly adjusted, offering easy driving. The rear axle remains stable and ensures excellent road holding. The road behavior is impeccable, with no play or noise. The suspension works perfectly. It is equipped with four tubeless spoke wheels and whitewall tires, completing its 1950s look. Braking behavior: Still equipped with its drums, the braking proves perfect and straight.
