The story
The Olympia Motor Show car from 1930 Racing history Probably the very first production 2-liter Lagonda with supercharger Restored by brand experts in England In 1930, Lagonda presented the revised version of the 2-liter. Thanks to the supercharger fitted in front of the engine, the car now had significantly more power and reached a top speed of an impressive 140 km/h The car offered by Cargold is the exhibition car from the 1930 Olympia Motor Show (London). The Lagonda was bought by T.C. Mann directly from the exhibition stand in order to race it. It is probably the very first production 2 liter with supercharger that Lagonda built. From 1930 to 1933, Mann successfully took part in races throughout Europe. Photos from this period are available. The most important events were the Monte Carlo Rally in 1931 and 1932 and the Mont des Mules Hill Climb, which GK3466 won two years in a row (class up to 2 liters). After the war, cars were rare and many chassis still functioning were converted into commercial vehicles. GK3466 also received a new body (shooting break) Until 1962 it was used in this way until it was parked along with other vehicles in a field near Yorkshire. There, it was discovered by John Horne in 1986 and he decided to rebuild GK3466, due to its great significance for the Lagonda brand. In the following years, it was restored with incredible attention to detail, including with the help of Charles Battersby, Hartley Wintney, Alan Brown, Ivan Forshaw, and Barry Simpson. In 1999, the completed "Rolling Chassis" was proudly presented at the 100th anniversary celebration of Lagonda in Brooklands. In 2003, John Horne received the "Transport Trust Restoration Award" for the extremely careful restoration. Tragically, Horne passed away a few months later. The car was resold in 2006 and has been in current ownership in Germany since 2012. The vehicle is known in literature and appears, among others, in the book by Geoffrey Seaton.
