The story
This Lagonda LG 6 Rapide was crafted in 1939 with the utmost British craftsmanship and is, in the eyes of numerous collectors and connoisseurs, the most beautiful pre-war English car of all time – then as now. This example still has its original engine, has been excellently maintained over the past decades, and is extraordinarily well documented with many contemporary papers. Thanks to its exclusivity, it is a ticket to all high-level classic car events around the world. This is a rare opportunity to acquire the pinnacle of the English automotive industry. ◀ In 1935, the new owner of Lagonda, Alan P. Good, took over the factory from bankruptcy. Furthermore, he had recruited W.O. Bentley from Rolls-Royce as technical director and a team of top engineers. His ambition was: "We will build the best car in the world in two years." As a result, all Lagonda vehicles, under the technical direction of W.O. Bentley, were increasingly equipped with cutting-edge technologies. This included a dual-circuit hydraulic braking system, independent suspension, adjustable shock absorbers from the steering wheel, and a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission. For safe driving of the LG 6 range, the robust and proven 4.5-liter six-cylinder Meadows engine took care of that, which had already proven its qualities with a victory at Le Mans. Subsequently, it was further refined by W.O. Bentley, among other things with a flexible engine suspension. To ensure absolute engine balance, the most modern machine tools of the time were used.
